The dad-of-one was suspended for four weeks by the Royal Mail after he delivered a form to residents on his Gibbonsdown
round which told them how to stop unaddressed junk mail being delivered to their door.
After a national outcry of support for Roger he was reinstated - but rather than being returned to his round, he was given a
backroom job. He is currently off work with stress.
In September:
ANTI-JUNK mail postman Roger Annies faced a five-hour grilling from Royal Mail bosses.
A CWU official said: "The meeting lasted for five-and-a-half hours, which is exceptional for a disciplinary hearing - although
I admit this was something very unusual.
Roger said:
"They have made it clear that I will not be doing what I was before, and I am not happy with that.
"I cannot accept being treated like this. I do not feel comfortable or happy at the way I have been treated.
"I feel that they are trying to shut me away from the public so nobody can see me."
Communication Workers' Union representative Amarjite Singh said:
"We're glad with the outcome that they haven't dismissed him."
-------------
Quite disgusted that the Union didn't seem to do enough for him,and as for his colleagues, what were they doing?
How the hell did they have a meeting for five-and-a-half hours.
And the Manager in all this, how has he got away with the National outcry that he caused?
Such a crazy situation, and you have to feel sorry for Roger.
But there could be a silver lining.
Barry and district news ask the people of Barry to get behind a campaign to see anti-junk hero postie Roger Annies
crowned Postman of the Year.
Give postie Roger a first class accolade
Could be interesting.
