Re: Training
Yes it used to be 38.50 every week, but I think it's been increased.
If you are training new staff, you can ask for training money

Re: Training
It's £46.74 per week now, that's an extra £2430 per year
For that in the last year or so ours has taken two new starters out with him for one day each and that's about it, disgusting waste of money

Re: Training
The workplace coach allowance payment covers all aspects of the role which includes training.

Re: Training
What if the DOM tells you to take someone out with you to train them? And then uses the ‘reasonable request’ line..

Re: Training
So is training only supposed to be done by work time coaches or can anyone get that payment who trains.BenacreNick wrote: ↑31 May 2026, 14:59Yes it used to be 38.50 every week, but I think it's been increased.

Re: Training
Anyone who trains, you have a to ask your manager though, they won’t give it to you otherwise.emu72 wrote: ↑31 May 2026, 23:06So is training only supposed to be done by work time coaches or can anyone get that payment who trains.BenacreNick wrote: ↑31 May 2026, 14:59Yes it used to be 38.50 every week, but I think it's been increased.

Re: Training
And once again this is another allowance that new entrants can't get apparently. I've trained various newbies despite only being relatively new myself and been told only old contracts get the ad-hoc training allowance. No idea if this is correct or just managers pulling a fast one again

Re: Training
This isn't true. I'm on the new contract and I have trained new starters and got a "leadership allowance" payment for it. It was £42.50 for the week if I remember correctly.Jonathan Alsatian wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026, 11:48And once again this is another allowance that new entrants can't get apparently. New contracts can also apply for and be hired as work place coaches.
Speak to your union rep about this your manager is lying to you.

Re: Training
Most people have the ability to train someone.
There should not be any payment for training. You get to take someone out on 1 duty, train them for 1 hour and then share the workload and have an easy day.
Instead, that £42.50 per week should be part of a payrise shared between all staff. Based on the % of staff in our office who are workplace coaches, I believe this would result in around £7 extra for each staff member per month = £84 extra a year.
In return you may have to train someone for a week just once a year.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Training
Same, if they try again just refuse and get them to ask someone who gets paid to do it!ted_e_bear wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026, 12:36I'd be inclined to think that's bollocksJonathan Alsatian wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026, 11:48And once again this is another allowance that new entrants can't get apparently. Re: Training
In the Single Delivery days, if you weren't a WPC that was effectively payment in time. Though that was when the job was significantly simpler and you really could give a newbie half your duty and both finish early. Now everyone considers having someone new put on with them a hinderance (except management who think two unequal bodies doubles productivity) so they'd be well entitled to demand compensation for the gift of the albatross.
The machine stops.
