SISO and overtime bans

Post by dazzler123 »

So we are getting paid this week by SISO and i asked where we stand on overtime bans. Line manager said its here to stay now, if you expect overtime you have to ok it with the manager everyday.

Kind of the perfect excuse not to go over anymore now, like we will beg and plead for overtime. The amount of work and stress under every day, a paltry 1 hour isnt even worth it

Doing this in November proves they dont give a damn about people's mail being delivered even though the company is in profit again. They could do, but choose not to, its disgusting

There's no OT ban at my office. Mayhe it depends on how many staff an office has and the volumes going through. Our office relies on OT as without it the whole place goes to s**t in about 2 days.

How does that work, as I thought the SISO was only going to be used to kill off things like ghost overtime. If someone on a 37 hour contract (for example) scans in 10 minutes late every day for 5 days, then leaves 10 minutes early on a Saturday, their take home pay will show a 1 hour deduction?

Yes maybe so. i hope they keep the same energy at Xmas, when they expect us to be out until 5pm. Nah, im good thanks. Weve had OT bans all this year so the workload builds up on you while you have no say in it

Havnt gone into the nuts n bolts, we get told little, unsuprisingly. The OT ban looks to be office dependant

My manager said it won't be used to deduct anything if you finish ten minutes early or arrive late, that would be a separate conversation regarding punctuality and working to your time. It wouldn't surprise me if that changes in future. It will just be used at the moment instead of putting ot down on a 552 docket. Which puzzles me as people were still booking their ot on a paper 552 today. I guess the people who put down a 4pm finish when really they left at 2pm might get a surprise on pay day

As for the OT ban. They cannot and will not impose this on afternoon DPR because the whole set up is based on part timers on 25 hour per week contracts being unofficially coerced into working overtime every single night. If suddenly everyone on DPRs started finishing on time the result would be massive amounts of tracked being failed daily. Unless they recruit more staff so that people can finish on time. Ignore that last suggestion, that would require sensible thinking amonst the higher ups to implement.

Well according to CWU the employee could have done 3 more parcels in that time.

Didn't the CWU say that overtime was still to be written down as back up to any "errors"

We have not been able to pro deliver for months now, rest days are ok to work but no going over your time

Nothing happened in our DO either and I can't see that it will as ghosting is a given if they want the work done.

It's just the method input that has changed.
The status quo remains that anything prearranged with the manager before completion will be honoured.
if they try and backtrack because the hours worked doesn't match your siso hours the next day they are breaking the agreement and should be challenged.
