I thought the whole point of the USO Reforms/ODM was to cut staff numbers, if they aren't now going to do that what's the point in the reforms? I stll can't understand why they didn't just drop Saturday 2c deliveries and look to drop further days when mail drops off.

Who the hell comes up with this crap obviously non operational staff we are having new entrants turning and not even finishing a shift long term staff just leaving and not being replaced and their deliveries just staying in trays under the frames staff turning down O/T because they just have had enough and this half term is probably I have ever seen bulk deliveries not going and these include mail for the local hospitals    :nana :nana :nana

the fact that the current model isnt working with no new entrants wanting to do the jobs or lasting long, instead of making it easier for the posties they make it even harder, theyll have hardly anyone left to deliver their shitty new way of working

All the slack went out of deliveries with the last round of imposed revisions there are no savings on delivery

EP group plainly been sold a dud on money savings RM and ofcom

If you want a high first time delivery % abd clear offices

You need manageable deliveries to start with

Decent overtime rate ( to incentivise working beyond your duty )

Quit the micromanaging and let posties get on with what they no best

Amen.

We've had times in our office when all managers are off sick, and it works just fine. We get the mail out, do our jobs.

The best managers are the ones who just let that happen, no bullying, no threats, just accept we are humans doing a job and trust us to crack on.

It works great. Will never catch on.

I guarantee you there's been a cost-benefit analysis and all of those things are very likely more expensive than taking a fourth annual Ofcom fine.

Putting in more duties means hiring more people to do them. Labour costs go up, even under the ODM where it isn't 1:1.
Raising the OT rate to time-and-a-quarter so that half the country will want to do that extra hour that was dumped onto their frame in 2021/2 would cost, let's say:
  • £5 extra per hour
  • per 40,000 staff
  • per the bottom half of the week it isn't allegedly dead
  • per the 34 weeks of the year it isn't allegedly dead
(((5x40,000)*3)*34) = £20.4m versus £2.1m fine.

Anyway, there's no amount of money that's going to keep me on the street past my finish time thanks to last year's Newtork Review.
The machine stops.

So that all the management jobs that we don’t need have something to do, it’s literally in their interests to come up with ideas to make things difficult as the company always looks to the ones who created the problems to cure them.
