Price hike + compensation decrease.
I think royal mail have shot themselves in the foot with this ,I buy silver and gold a fair bit ,I know people who are going absolute nuts about special delivery price increases, not to mention compensation on tracked going down to £75 from £150 , absolutely putting a gun to there own head ,people moaned about the price of a general stamp going up, but this is on another level
.

I know, how ridiculous is it to hope the company we work for lose business, I never ever thought like that in previous jobs for obvious reasons but I agree, I started to think that way years ago when they piled on extra work but neglected to allocate extra time to do it

I think RM are just happy to have the big corporate tracked contracts, are there any bulk senders of Special Delivery these days?comeracing wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025, 14:37I think royal mail have shot themselves in the foot with this ,I buy silver and gold a fair bit ,I know people who are going absolute nuts about special delivery price increases, not to mention compensation on tracked going down to £75 from £150 , absolutely putting a gun to there own head ,people moaned about the price of a general stamp going up, but this is on another level.

Special Delivery is a hindrance for RM as it's a product they can't plan into our working day

Yodel won't take 'bullion of any precious metal' and EVRI exclude precious metals from compensation.comeracing wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025, 14:37I think royal mail have shot themselves in the foot with this ,I buy silver and gold a fair bit ,I know people who are going absolute nuts about special delivery price increases, not to mention compensation on tracked going down to £75 from £150 , absolutely putting a gun to there own head ,people moaned about the price of a general stamp going up, but this is on another level.

Neither do UPS according to their T&C's.
DPD - no gold and silver over £250
DHL won't unless you've got some sort of special account, same as Fedex.

Plus they have no real control over an agency etc postie just dumping it on a doorstep or posting it without a signature and so leaving them open for a big compensation claim. Then having to spend more money training their replacement have they've been dismissed!A2B wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025, 15:21I think RM are just happy to have the big corporate tracked contracts, are there any bulk senders of Special Delivery these days?comeracing wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025, 14:37I think royal mail have shot themselves in the foot with this ,I buy silver and gold a fair bit ,I know people who are going absolute nuts about special delivery price increases, not to mention compensation on tracked going down to £75 from £150 , absolutely putting a gun to there own head ,people moaned about the price of a general stamp going up, but this is on another level.

Yet parcel collect can be as little as 3p per item as my customer informed me yesterday with 26 pick ups. Then additionals.comeracing wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025, 14:37I think royal mail have shot themselves in the foot with this ,I buy silver and gold a fair bit ,I know people who are going absolute nuts about special delivery price increases, not to mention compensation on tracked going down to £75 from £150 , absolutely putting a gun to there own head ,people moaned about the price of a general stamp going up, but this is on another level.

But we also charge postage costs to deliver the item once it's been collected?
