Why did they reduce the callers office hours?

Post by Hitcher »

Was there ever a reason they cut the opening hours to basically 2 hours a day?

We still get customers turning up expecting it to be open!

Those staff are now out delivering letters Hitcher, presumably to improve quality of service.

Yes. Automatic redelivery started. There were significant data surveys carried out and all CSP"s were ranked. One of the biggest reasons for the closures was and is the refusal of workers to deliver as per the SOP. Every rule breaker put a nail in the coffin of CSP's.

There's always at least one person in there daily in our office (sometimes 3-4) just waiting to put automatic redelivery stickers on the packets we bring back. Which is why it seems ridiculous to close the callers office when there's staff available to run it which would help reduce the amount of redelivers we do!

It is bizarre because there is always people available until about 2 PM in my DO to go to callers office, and I work in a relatively small office so imagine there would be more for larger DOs. It's not like someone has to be stood there all the time, as most callers office I've seen have a buzzer and there is barriers so potential undesirables can't leap over.

If opening hours were increased they should remove 2nd delivery attempt unless customer specifically requests that day online. This removes pressure to dump the parcel so you don't have to deal with it the next day, so a reduced workload.

It puts more responsbility on to the customer to either be in or manage how to receive the parcel.

Reduce time the parcel is held in callers office(think it's currently 2 weeks?) to 1 week. For example InPost require you to collect the parcel within 3 days or it goes back.

Lol, that's a feature not a problem.

I’ve long thought that. Most couriers do 3 attempts then back to sender. RM seem to facilitate people not having to do anything to help receive the parcel they ordered.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

At our place they are going to put in lockers to collect from even though the CSP is manned on a daily basis although on limited hours you just couldn't make it up :nana :nana :nana :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Our locker staff used to complain about us bringing things back without trying more than 1 neighbour, as it created too much work for them.

They are now out delivering mail.

Instead of the parcel boxes, a lot of people would prefer to collect their parcel from the delivery office than find it behind their bin or over the side gate? It saves time, the vehicle and the fuel.
Why did everything seem so simple not that long ago?
