Our office is currently a trial office and its s**t as expected mainly for the town duties. However at the start of the month they were very keen at getting staff to upgrade to a 37 hour deal on a temporary basis. Seems strange trying to save money yet offering upgrades on contracts.
I took a week off on the 7/4/25 , the same week my contract was upped, considering i only agreed to it on the Saturday it seemed very quick almost as if it had already been put through whether i was accepting it or
Not.
Point here is i had hit the holiday payment target each month yet they say now that because i was now a full time contract, first day of full time contract was my first day off, that all the sspr overtime, which is the first 2 hours over my 35 hours was discounted from the entire 6 month period meaning in February i missed the target by 1 hour and 10 mins.
Maybe im being paranoid but seems all a bit planned. Be weary if they start pushing you to
Accept longer hour contracts

Is it definitely a temporary contract variation?hero22 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 00:03Our office is currently a trial office and its s**t as expected mainly for the town duties. Re: Trial office 37 hours upgrades
Apologies if its unclear.
When i took my first week of leave on the 7th of April i expected to achieve the holiday payment you recieve if you hit the 6 months of overtime targets. On my 35 hour deal i had achieved that. However i did not receive the payment.
On contacting HR , they said i was upgraded to the 37 hour full time contract which started on the first day of my leave therefore the first two hours of overtime (sspr rate) did not now count towards the 8 hour monthly target for any of the 6 months. If i had stayed at 35 hours it seems it would have counted. So by moving to a full time deal (i only agreed to it on the 5th yet it was processed alot earlier than that) i missed out on what would have been a fair chunk .
What im highlighting is how many of the trial offices and probably across the board will now be offered these contracts and not realise that it may end up costing alot of money in terms of the overtime payment.

So you did more than 37 hours weekly in the previous months?hero22 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 12:04Apologies if its unclear.

Re: Trial office 37 hours upgrades
Yeah 5 out of the 6 months i had hit 40 odd hours a month, February was the only month due to less overtime i had hit 13 hours for month. When they deducted the the sspr rate somehow it left me on 6 hour 42 mins for February meaning i missed the target by 1 h 18 mins.
It’s confusing but seems dodgy to me. This place makes you paranoid lol but seems unfair to lose out on money because of a contract upgrade on the first day of leave.

Re: Trial office 37 hours upgrades
So this trial office is trialling having everyone on 35 hour or less contracts to work 37 hours.... - why?...
I assume because your office is struggling to clear?
You surely cannot be forced to increase or lower your hours.

Work out what you are owed and ask to be paid. Also ask for a permanent full time contract.hero22 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 12:34Yeah 5 out of the 6 months i had hit 40 odd hours a month, February was the only month due to less overtime i had hit 13 hours for month. Re: Trial office 37 hours upgrades
The indications are they want as many people as possible working FT as there's no time to double prep frames going forward so, I'm assuming, no jobs for PT staff?

Sounds typical RM, they try and find anyway possible not to pay something, anybody would thinks they are a small business struggling to make ends meet, not billion pounds business.hero22 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 12:34Yeah 5 out of the 6 months i had hit 40 odd hours a month, February was the only month due to less overtime i had hit 13 hours for month.
