Conducted for Bringing tracked back when cutting off

Hi

I know of someone who has a conduct meeting for bringing tracked items backin another office, Is this right as I have often cut off and brought tracked and parcels back.

Did they inform their DOM they wouldn't be able to complete the duty?

Did the DOM give them instructions, i.e. deliver the tracked and bring the mail back?

Always let the DOM know if you can't complete as soon as you know (before you leave the office) and let them decide what gets brought back

Tracked 48 basically 2nd class and with the amount that’s coming in these days it shouldn’t be an issue. They might see it differently because they could miss out on filthy bonus money.

Surely every postie knows Tracked are now the priority and you just don't bring them back unless you've told your DOM/COM and have a good excuse for not delivering them?

I have to do packets&parcels for 2 rural duties at least twice a week and depending on the day bring back between 4-10 tracked items wed-sat.

As long as he followed the right procedure in informing that manager he will struggle then it shouldn't be a conduct case no.
You would have to know more about the situation to know why it has become a conduct case.
May be some more factors than just that.
It may be a manager using bullying tactics so others are scared to cut off in the future.
As long as he followed the right protocol and didn't cut off early it shouldn't go anywhere.

There will be more to this story. No one is conducted in the first instance, there is usually a pattern or instructions being ignored, tracked being brought back and not scanned back in, etc.

Or just as already stated, a manager is just trying to use bullying tactics. Had it in our office, pulled in only one 1/2 of a a van share but not other. Union rep made sure there was no case to answer.

Until a manager puts it in writing, and I've been asking for two years, Tracked aren't a priority item.

I've brought some back every day this week. Not a word said but then I've been doing rounds that have days of backlog. According to the Royal Mail press office every time it's in the media, the backlog is the priority.

Specials, tracked, collections have priority since Covid afaik.
The letters can wait but take out everything unless you are sure you won’t be able to complete then the mail that hasn’t been out for days get priority. Always tell your manager first though.

I used to try tell my DOM that I wouldn't be able to complete the round in my shift, they would always say I was being negative as I hadn't even left yet. But as the driver you know the route and the traffic so you know roughly how many parcels you can deliver in your shift.
