What is the raise a concern tile on the people app for?

Post by Jen1 »

Asking because I recently raised a concern about our manager trying to change our break times so that I would have to take a break just 11mins after starting my shift rather than when I actually need a break

Firstly I followed the instructions and as I thought it was a health and safety issue it directed me to the speak up site so I raised the issue with them but got an email back saying it was not the right channel to address issues of this nature and it gave me instructions of how to raise the issue on the raise a concern app

So I followed those instructions but got an email back from them saying it’s not the correct procedure and that I needed to speak with my line manager and the union (which I had already stated that I had done)

It doesn’t really matter now as the union has now changed it’s mind and has decided to back us (I don’t know if my suggestion of us all cancelling our subs for 6 weeks had anything to do with the sudden change of heart???)

Breaks are a necessity not a luxury in this job especially at the moment as we’re chronically understaffed and carrying a minimum of 2 days mail each day which is exhausting

Anyway the proposed changes to our rest breaks is no longer going ahead but I was wandering what kind of concerns is the raise a concern app actually for because I would have thought that any practice that would endanger your staff by causing fatigue due to inadequate breaks therefore leaving Royal Mail liable for any accidents caused by said fatigue, would be of concern to them??

'the union has now changed it’s mind and has decided to back us (I don’t know if my suggestion of us all cancelling our subs for 6 weeks had anything to do with the sudden change of heart??"

What...the union sprung into action at the prospect of losing subs, like when allegedly RM threatened to stop processing them through payroll ?

In other news the pope admits to being a catholic and a bear comes clean that he does in fact s**t in the woods :chuckle

Great idea, you could squat behind it if you get caught short, just hope no-one walks past :chuckle
