Does this still count as an absent? New lady hit her leg (outside of work) and was unable to work a day off she said she could work.
Would this count as periods of absence?
My advise is to fully wait until it’s fully better as one day is counted the same as 5 but not sure if her missing a day off she said she would do as OT is the same as normal day?

No, if she works her weekly hours other than that day that she said she would work on overtime then it will not count as a sick absence.

No you can tell them you cant work your day off anymore anytime before the shift starts
Weve actually had people say they dont want to work anymore after the shift starts too because they werent on the duty they thought theyd be on etc

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

According to the Attendance Agreement and related documents, absences are generally recorded regardless of whether they occur on a regular working day or a day volunteered for overtime.
The difference is she called in sick, if she had just called in saying something had popped up and she couldn't work, that would not count as a sick absence day if she returned to work the next day.

4. Is there a change to how the length of an absence is calculated (i.e. the inclusion
of days when no attendance is due)?
The way an absence is calculated remains the same. Currently calendar days are counted, for example where an attendance was due on Saturday and Monday but not on Sunday this would be treated as one absenceof three days

That is just referring to an absence that has already started.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 09:35According to the Attendance Agreement and related documents, absences are generally recorded regardless of whether they occur on a regular working day or a day volunteered for overtime.

If she went sick on the Monday which was part of her duty pattern and Tuesday was her rest day which she said she would work but then subsequently couldn't because of the injury the rest day would count as sick.
If she went to work Monday and then injured herself after work.
Pulled out of her rest day because of it but then returned Wednesday after her rest day it wouldn't count towards the absence procedure.

If it was an overtime shift she volunteered for, it might not count the same as missing a regular scheduled shift. But it really depends on company policy. Best to check with HR or a manager to be sure.

But she didn't return to work, so it is counted.
