Yes blaming the CWU for asking us to close it when we have critisced them since 2007.

Plus the OP posted another thread when he was the main instigator of why it got locked and not mentioning it is also disingenuous.

However, even before that, the discussion had strayed off-topic, with people criticizing both new and legacy workers. There were too many breaches of the rules to issue warnings or expel anyone, and while I wasn’t the one who locked the thread, I fully support that decision.

I urge members who disregard the rules to take a moment to reflect and stop their violations. Being given a platform to express grievances or seek advice does not grant anyone the right to make personal attacks or to drown out differing opinions with foul language. Realistically how many people get job satisfaction in low skilled, low paid jobs , not to many I would have thought.

There's plenty to like about the job and plenty to dislike. If you removed the stuff I dislike - I'd be very satisfied.

I think if the job was more flexible then that could fix the issues I have with the job. If the CWU could push Royal Mail to allow posties to adjust their contracts to suit them, specifically the hours/days worked, then that would be a game changer for me.

Norris you are looking for some sort of postie shangri la, large private companies just see us as a commodity and use us accordingly, they couldn't give a flying about mental or physical health just how much they can get out of us in a day...... plus a little bit extra on top.
I am like you i enjoy parts of the job and would love some sort of flexibility as i start to wind down to retirement, but again i refer you back to my initial statement and see no way it will change.

I completed that satisfaction survey last week, after you submit it a dashboard opens that lets you see your responses etc. I gave scores to the questions and put comments in some places. On seeing the dashboard on questions where I put zweo or one and then a comment as to why ....the algorithm has marked the questions up to a 3. So putting a negative comment with a negative score makes a positive comment score available to the line managers. I really hope they actually realise that and read peoples comments ....

I've mentioned flexibility & possible 4 days weeks to our rep, but it appears it all depends on the appetite of managers to actually do something about it.
I get the impression most RM managers see it as too much like hard work & consequently it'll never come about. It's a shame because as a 24/7 business we're ideally placed to bring about a major lifestyle change such as this.

I said a couple of months ago on one of the threads that in my opinion the working patterns will be down to how the Com & CWU rep interprets it. Basically as neither side have a clue I don’t think the majority of us will see much if any change to our current shift patterns. RM are only going to be interested in shoe horning the ODM in no matter what so won’t be interested in following through on how it’s working in DOs whilst the CWU will be too busy talking s**t & how we need to change to realise that once again we’ve been shafted!!!!
