CWU Live at 5pm: Join Us for a Live Update on USO Trails

Post by ted_e_bear »

Trails or is it Trials

Dear Members,

Some USO trails are now officially underway, and we want to keep you informed on where we currently stand.

We'll be live at 5pm with Assistant Secretary Tony Bouch, National Executive member Luke Elgar and others as we discuss the latest on where we’re at with the trails, the challenges members may be facing, and take a deep dive into all things deliveries. Whether you're curious about the latest progress or have questions you'd like answered, this is your chance to get involved!

Make sure to drop your questions in the comments during the show as we will be answering them live.

Join us here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsVuTrZ4JrY

See you at 5pm.

The CWU has a full time Comms department and they still can't proof the stuff they put out. Is it any wonder its losing members.

My concerns are this:-.

In combined duties you will be in teams of 3. One goes sick then can we guarantee there will be a body to step into the shoes of the absentee and if so where would that body supposed to be working if there were no sicknesses, would we then be overstaffed ?

My point being, we will be dealing with 2 days of mail (fine!) , but if there is no cover for a sick person then what is the plan the union have in place because that duty will need to be covered otherwise you will be dealing with 3 or even 4 days of mail next time you go to that duty.

To me there are far too many holes in this plan. At the minute if your colleague goes sick then you can sort of get on top of your duty in a couple of days but in this new system then you could quite easily be snowed under and find it difficult to get back on track with it.

Traditionally offices kept reserves as cover and if there were no need for them in their own office, theyd be sent to any other office that needed cover to work that day. Sometimes a certain office would hold more reserves than the other offices with a view of reserves being shipped out each day to neighbouring offices as contingency.

That can still happen, and reserves are still a thing, so thats what I imagine would happen.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Not had any reserves for a very very long time, ghost overtime usually took care of problems but along with regular overtime that's gone. If a walk is uncovered the tracked are covered and the mail stays behind.

As the previous post said total chaos if that continues with the new system

Workers know full well what's going to happen - you'll be told you can do it all. The whole things a farce as the owner doing the trials isn't going to be the owner in a few months time. They couldn't even get the sorting equipment programmed to ensure the correct workload turned up. Which meeting was that discussed at and then forgotten about? Workers know full well the basics aren't right and never will be. One of the Plymouth mafia stated that around 6000 routes are missing! Just like all the other big ideas this one will be just a footnote in history.

It’s going to be a complete disaster and we all know it.

The workloads will be so ridiculous that there’ll be even more sickness which will lead to less deliveries being covered which will lead to more fatigue and then more sickness.

It’ll go like that.

I’ve said more than once now that the union must have their heads in the sand if they can’t see this.

Our office of about 150 deliveries can’t cover sick absences now or in the majority of deliveries, get both walks in a pairing done.

With the pilots and the systems they’ve mentioned then there’s a much bigger chance of failing every day and then you’re looking at 5-7 days worth of mail , d2d’s at the very least.

You will never catch that up.

Everyone from mail centres to deliveries are about to be screwed over and it’s about time we all focused on who is about to do that to us.

Who do the union actually work for.
