Can I appeal surgery stage warning
Next week I’ll be having a discectomy to sort out my slipped disc. I will be off work for approx 2 months and I know this will trigger a stage 2 as I’m already on a stage 1. I was wondering if there is any grounds for appeal against a stage warning given for time off over surgery. I don’t want to be on a stage 2 as I hate the anxiety of being closer to a consideration for dismissal meeting. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a successful appeal. Thank you.

Re: Can I appeal surgery stage warning
Stages are automatically issued now and out of the hands of your Com/Dom. Regardless of the reason for the absence, even if it is due to a condition covered by the Equality Act
No review meeting so no chance to provide mitigating circumstances. Manager is just told to hand over the letter saying it has been issued.
You then have just 3 days from the date on the letter to put in an appeal. So you have to hope your manager isn't the too busy or bit forgetful type.
But to answer OP. Yes you can appeal.
As it sounds like a planned absence you have the advantage of being able to you have your appeal ready to go well before the time you need to use it. When you get the letter bang it in straight away
