pda problems
Just wondering what kind of problems people have with their pdas out on run as had one where on delivery out their just walking normally on a street and a parcel tracked number comes up on my pda without me being near a parcel not in my hand but the parcel in the back of the van, now this has happened once or twice before, and when i check my items to deliver its always the first item on the pda to be delivered, just wondering how it comes up itself, so say on ur own frame the first street u normally deliver to has a parcel for someone on that street, but u might not necessarly go there first as u might go to the lapsing first, up comes out of nowhere a tracked parcel flashes up on ur screen and its not where u are at, I have had to turn off the pda to get rid off it as i havent got the parcel in my hand at the time as its for somewhere later and in the back of the van which i am not even near at the time but halfway down another loop, annoying but just wondering if anyone else has had similar strange pda issues or know why this would happen

I have this sometimes too. In wet weather it happens more. I think it is something, rain, movement in pocket with hand on the outside conducting heat, etc, etc, mimicking the right-swipe that brings up the delivery screen.

Re: pda problems
You can put it on wet weather mode. It isn't perfect but happens less.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 19:40I have this sometimes too. In wet weather it happens more.

Re: pda problems
Just press cancel and it'll disappear as fact as it came, it's hardly a big issue, also switch the screen off before you put it in your pocket to stop it happening in the first place.stars2025 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 19:11Just wondering what kind of problems people have with their pdas out on run as had one where on delivery out their just walking normally on a street and a parcel tracked number comes up on my pda without me being near a parcel not in my hand but the parcel in the back of the van, now this has happened once or twice before, and when i check my items to deliver its always the first item on the pda to be delivered, just wondering how it comes up itself, so say on ur own frame the first street u normally deliver to has a parcel for someone on that street, but u might not necessarly go there first as u might go to the lapsing first, up comes out of nowhere a tracked parcel flashes up on ur screen and its not where u are at, I have had to turn off the pda to get rid off it as i havent got the parcel in my hand at the time as its for somewhere later and in the back of the van which i am not even near at the time but halfway down another loop, annoying but just wondering if anyone else has had similar strange pda issues or know why this would happen

Re: pda problems
The PDAs should have had a physical button on the side which could be used to make the PDA ignore any screen input.

They don't need one they've got one on the top that turns the screen on and off quite effectivelySpacePhoenix wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 22:11The PDAs should have had a physical button on the side which could be used to make the PDA ignore any screen input.

'Lock' as it used to be on many portable devices that you didn't want springing to life in your pocket wasting precious battery charge. This is commodity hardware, though, so it meets the procurement criteria: available and cheap.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 22:11The PDAs should have had a physical button on the side which could be used to make the PDA ignore any screen input.

Re: pda problems
my pda problems havent been because the pda has been in the pocket, its when its not in the pocket, with the pda in my hand ive noticed up pops up a yellow tracked code on my screen from a parcel thats in my van for my route, nothing to do with it being in a pocket, just crap faulty software

Re: pda problems
Some parts of my usual delivery have absolutely no mobile phone signal and this is where the odd usually plays up, have to take photos using mobile and scan it them in later.

Re: pda problems
Your clearly clicking something on the screen, just keep it locked when carrying it or put it in a holster, it's a user rather than PDA issuestars2025 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 20:31my pda problems havent been because the pda has been in the pocket, its when its not in the pocket, with the pda in my hand ive noticed up pops up a yellow tracked code on my screen from a parcel thats in my van for my route, nothing to do with it being in a pocket, just crap faulty software

I doubt there's anything better, I noticed EVRI drivers have to use their own phones the rest seem to use something very similar to our Zebra PDA's.tramssirhc wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 07:00The equipment is not fit for purpose.stars2025 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 19:11Just wondering what kind of problems people have with their pdas out on run as had one where on delivery out their just walking normally on a street and a parcel tracked number comes up on my pda without me being near a parcel not in my hand but the parcel in the back of the van, now this has happened once or twice before, and when i check my items to deliver its always the first item on the pda to be delivered, just wondering how it comes up itself, so say on ur own frame the first street u normally deliver to has a parcel for someone on that street, but u might not necessarly go there first as u might go to the lapsing first, up comes out of nowhere a tracked parcel flashes up on ur screen and its not where u are at, I have had to turn off the pda to get rid off it as i havent got the parcel in my hand at the time as its for somewhere later and in the back of the van which i am not even near at the time but halfway down another loop, annoying but just wondering if anyone else has had similar strange pda issues or know why this would happen

Used to work in Amazon distribution, they also use Zebra PDAs though I can't recall having as many problems with them as I did with RM's PDAs.TopperGas wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 21:11I doubt there's anything better, I noticed EVRI drivers have to use their own phones the rest seem to use something very similar to our Zebra PDA's.tramssirhc wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 07:00The equipment is not fit for purpose.stars2025 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 19:11Just wondering what kind of problems people have with their pdas out on run as had one where on delivery out their just walking normally on a street and a parcel tracked number comes up on my pda without me being near a parcel not in my hand but the parcel in the back of the van, now this has happened once or twice before, and when i check my items to deliver its always the first item on the pda to be delivered, just wondering how it comes up itself, so say on ur own frame the first street u normally deliver to has a parcel for someone on that street, but u might not necessarly go there first as u might go to the lapsing first, up comes out of nowhere a tracked parcel flashes up on ur screen and its not where u are at, I have had to turn off the pda to get rid off it as i havent got the parcel in my hand at the time as its for somewhere later and in the back of the van which i am not even near at the time but halfway down another loop, annoying but just wondering if anyone else has had similar strange pda issues or know why this would happen
