Wtf?

If and when you become aware / suspicous of an illegal item, you inform a senior manager immediately. DO NOT deliver it. If you're on delivery when you become aware, don't even attend the address, or anywhere near it, with any items. Contact your manager or return to the office. The police will be round within minutes.

Christ, do people even receive any training these days?

Keep it and sell it on 😆 what can they do ? Report their stolen drugs to the police 😆 .... only kidding of course. Chances are that the drugs are being tracked by the authorities so deliver as addressed.

Security Performance Manager rolling a fat one

The Reporting of Illegal Drugs in the post

The process for reporting the interception of controlled drugs in the post has changed.

Drug Interceptions must now be reported to Royal Mail Group Security via the Security Portal using this link www.royalmail.com/all-eyes-on-security or you can use the QR code on the ‘Contacting Security’ poster displayed at your unit.

The following options will be available once the Security Portal is accessed:
Observation
Incident
Dog Attack
Drug Offence

The “Drug Offence” option should be chosen.

It is important that you include as much detail as possible in the report. This information is critical as part of any potential investigation.
A hard copy of the GS231 receipt should be retained locally for a period of 2 years.

You do not need to send the GS231 receipt to the Security Helpdesk.

Further information about what to do with mail suspected to contain illegal, prohibited or restricted goods can be found by clicking on the following Managers Guide.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Is it really up to us to decide what is illegal and what is prescription?

Report it through the Raising Concerns thingy on the App, it should be a 'SHIELD' issue (not Marvel!) the RM Security Helpdesk to deal with.

or if you can't use the app, 0345 60 60 603

It's in our business standards:
Security incidents or concerns
Would you like to report any of the following?
- Theft, burglary or robbery
- Fraud, counterfeit stamps or scams
- A violent offence or sexual offence
- A dog attack where serious injury has occured
- Malicious communications
- Criminal damage, arson or graffiti
- Illegal drugs
- Any other suspicious incidents
Local managers are all over us wanting us to ID check people for over 18 for delivery of sharp bladed instruments because of recent
incidents but possible illegal drugs - shrug shoulders seems to be the answer.

This part of the webpage you get to:
Drug Offence Details
This form is to be used as a notification for cases involving postal packets containing illegal drugs, weapons or obscene material etc. and should be used as receipt when handing such items to the Police or HMRC.
Should you require further details please contact the Royal Mail Group Security helpdesk on 0207 239 6655 or securityhelpdesk@royalmail.com
If a signature product, please also sign PDA & print Constabulary, to note on receipt of any customer enquiries regarding this item, RMG will advise the customer that the item was believed to contain a prohibited item and as such it has been disposed of.
Sections below should be completed if information is available
Further edit: didn't see what TBT had posted but takes you through to the same webpage!

I would be more worried about your job in general, the fact that the company wants you to have the rights/terms of say a McDonalds worker

No offence to a McDonalds worker, I respect them as much as any other job worker.

To be fair, it is a problem when you are delivering parcels full of hard drugs to a so called cuckoo flats/apartments run by drug dealers.

Good point, I knew someone a decade ago getting legal weed for pain and other Postie’s didn’t believe it. The herb she got had barely any smell though and mostly relied on oil that came with government papers. That stuff that stinks and wrapped in paper it’s hard to imagine how much the sender smoked to send it like that..

I saw a documentary once. Sniffer dogs found drugs in a parcel and the police just followed it... I think they would have been pissed off if some postie is shouting around the office what he thought was in the package. In such a case i suspect they just replace him for that day ? God knows. Who cares ? It's not my job to worry what's inside. I get paid to deliver stuff not have an examination of everything. Unless it's ticking and smells of marzipan 😆
