pt to ft new contracts?

Post by world class male »

A few posties in our d/o have just received a letter to accept the new T&Cs on their now permanent ft contract, some of them have been ft for several years already, a few 7 years!
they are sceptical on signing these because it doesn't state what the new T7Cs are, just to head to the people app, they are worried that they will sign up to the new starter pension and sunday working,
anyone shed some light as they don't seem bothered about looking on their people app to see for themselves :left:

The new T&C's will be just be the new starters T&C's unless they've been given a link to something different? They need to seek clarification if they really are being move to the new starters T&C's or if this is a mistake as the CWU suggested anybody moving to FT would retain their existing T&C's?

The CWU stated they had an agreement that workers who had been working under a variation of their contract which had temporarily increased their contractual hours would be offered a full time contract on 'legacy' [their awful term not mine] terms and conditions. My advice to these workers would be to ask the employer to provide the offer in writing explaining exactly what's being offered.

You've now posted something completely different as New terms i.e. new hours is completely different than accepting the new T&C's!

In the past when contract hours were changed they'd send you out a full copy of your contract so that you could check it. Existing T&Cs are supposed to be maintained in this uplift, so to me the absence implies no change beyond adjustment of hours. While I know trust is at an all-time low, this is probably in alignment with the company not being arsed to print payslips.

The section about the pension likely (but don't quote me) refers to subsequently increased contributions per week. If in doubt, follow the PSP link.

Anyone shed any light on the 'DG2' substantive grade? I've been told it replaced OPG and "everyone" is DG2... though that implies a DG1.
The machine stops.

The CWU have agreed that any part timer who increases their contracted hours including full time can retain their current terms and conditions ie if you are on legacy terms and conditions you keep them.

Please raise with your rep if you are being asked to move to the new terms.

These workers have already done that Martin and as usual the reps don't have a clue. Obviously because you, the div and area reps keep them in the dark to maintain your own positions. This is why people keep leaving. Empowering yourself whilst making the members powerless is not the answer to the membership crisis. Get them lazy bag avoiding div and area reps in and give them a bollocking again. I know they didn't listen last time you told them to get out and work the membership.

One of the problems here is that instead of simply printing out a new contract reflecting the actual working hours the employer has written to workers telling them to go to their app. Have a word yeah? Tell them to just send out new contracts. Not hard is it?

I have been full time for years, I have received a contract to sign. Same 37 hours same pay, the only difference is it’s not OPG but ‘DG2’ is everyone getting these?

Confused by this one- why would you need to sign a new contract when your hours haven't changed?
I certainly wouldn't be signing anything unless they have.
No idea what DG2 is.

A "Royal Mail DG2 contract" refers to a specific type of employment contract with Royal Mail, typically for delivery drivers, categorized as a "Delivery Grade 2" position, which usually entails a higher level of responsibility and potentially a larger delivery round compared to lower grade delivery roles within the company.

That's the info on google search, no idea if it's correct.

Turns out I have been on a temporary part full time contract for about ten years. I was full time when I started, took a transfer had to drop my hours and then I got made full time again, no idea it was temporary.

That doesn't work. All HR send out is a copy of the original contract (in my case the original permanent part time contract on "legacy" terms from 4 years ago) and copies of the letter in 2021 temporarily varying the contract to FT, and the most recent one in 2025 confirming the permanent variation to Full Time. The letter does confirm 37 hours and the basic pay @ £505.13. The T&C's have NOT been changed to the new versions on 32 hours.
