Scheduled attendance agreement to work 1 in 5 day off?

Post by Londonsburning »

How many OPGs are working their day off under the scheduled attendance agreement to cover their own walk/round on a rotational 1 in 5 shift pattern?

Rest day working is not unconditioned hours. There should be no sa agreement attached to rest day working.

Such a move is denying someone out there; a job. You can still work days off because most offices are short of staff...

I think it works well for management but what happens when you go off sick? That extra day will also continue to be paid.

I suppose you do not have a floater; meaning someone is being used a a Reserve instead of having a proper 'floater' duty.

Finally if your round is really that hard and undesirable, your manager will not try to move you off the round - my thought

* SA day off should be a no no! You should be encouraged to rest on your day's off not work 6 days all the time

These types of arrangements seem to be a legacy of the past from when the job went from 6 days to 5 days. People would have been so used to working 6 days on job and finish that it was too good a deal to turn down to get 'easy' S/A on your rest day.
Fast forward to today and it now looks like it's a stick to beat people with as there is no way the duties will be THAT easy that you can work 6 days 46-48 weeks of the year. But if you want the duty, you need to do 6 days.
There are arrangements still active in offices all over the country in relation to attendance/seniority/overtime and as long as it's not too broken, no one fixes it.
