Whats coming in your daily routine

Can anyone tell me what we will actually be doing when this new uso scheme comes in . At the moment I'm on a 1 in 4 on one delivery with rotational day off ,always work Thursday and Friday . What happens when its 1st class every other day with tracked and then the other day its all of it . Will it be I'll be covering delivery every other day on my rural round and someone else covers it the other day doing 1st class and tracked for 2 rounds and I'll be doing something else. At our office we are still trying to work it out. Why cant they just say what is happening in the trials so we can get our heads around it.

It's pretty simply - operational needs. Workers are going to do whatever whenever for the time they are employed. It's what the CWU has agreed. Do 9hr 15m days really fit the ODM? I don't think they do. Is there going to be 50% more Saturdays off? No.

Good point. Will you have one person doing 1st class letters and small packets off a shared duty and another doing large parcels on a DPR? What’s happening with the big parcels?

I have asked my DOM the same question but didn't get an answer

I assumed that the groups/teams would be covering everything on their duties but others think differently

I read it that one driver will be doing 1st class and all tracked including oversized from 2 duties, including Specials, box collections and parcel collections. The other 2 duties will be covered by 2 posties doing all mail, tracked, oversized, box collections ,Specials and parcel collections. Then it swaps the next day.

It is the norm for new-contract 40-hr posties. It has been the norm for as long as I have been employed, and I gather it was the norm from the get-go of the new 40-hr contract at our place. And it is the norm not just at my own DO — it happens at the other offices in our region too.

We have people doing the best part of two whole walks a day — they go out in the morning as part of a van share, and then on returning to the office in the afternoon to drop their partner back, they then go back out on their own with another walk/lapsing/cut-offs to take them up to their own finish time.

Makes no sense to have one guy taking big parcels and one guy taking smaller parcels. Many times customers will have a big box and a small box in one order from Boots or the like. Having them arrive separately is just crazy. There will be disagreements too as to who takes what because bag space and weight won’t be an issue for the 1c driver.

So you were employed at a so called 'problem office' as a DPR evening driver, on a 40 hour enhanced wage contract. Okay then, your consistent posts on here about how great your new job is compared to most delivery posties means the square root of f**k all pal lol
