This is a complete misrepresentation of what we said.

We are not looking at reducing of removing the delivery supplement from anyone who currently receives it.

However for the 19 thousand new entrants which joined Royal Mail after 1st December 2022 we want a time line when they receive the supplement.

Royal Mail imposed new entrants terms and conditions the CWU have never agreed them. We want the harmonisation of their terms and conditions with the old contractss.

However to get to the same hourly rate as full timers on the old contracts it will cost an extra £2000 per year this is with the £30 delivery supplement.

We also have to add the RRIS payments which range from £5 to £35 per week and the outer and inner London weighting which is a further significant cost.

So we want the company to commit that there will be flight path to full harmonisation of new entrants contracts over two years.

Remember prior to new entrants terms and conditions new entrants did not go onto the full rate until they had been established which could be anything from 12 months to 24 months.

The harmonisation will cost over 200 million. We also want an above inflation pay rise , an increase in VR, an increase in full time jobs which all cost so agreeing a flight path is a sensible way to ending the two tier workforce.

I have a problem with being paid less for the same job. I dodn't know before I joined and I am of a similar age to some of the older contract employess. However the younger new joiners could argue that this is discrimination based on age and I would be inclined to agree with them. I want the same pay for the same role and if RM aren't going to pay it then at some point when the new joiners have got themselves out of the financial holes they were in they will leave.

I'd also like to know if all of us are getting a pay rise in April to take us back to £1.10 an hour higher than minimum wage that the new joiners are currently on.

It's not age discrimination.

Two people joining the same day will be paid the same amount, regardless of their ages. Someone aged 25 joining now will be paid less than someone aged 24 who joined in 2021 - so how could it be age discrimination?

I fully agree with you that the difference in pay, breaks and general T&Cs is totally wrong - those doing the same job should have things all the same. Before this contract was introduced the pay rates were all the same once someone had done 12 months and were over 18, that was the way it should have continued.

I don't agree with what RM have done with their contracts, but claiming discrimination when there is none can belittle cases where it does exist.

That's not the latest position you've been shown there. Walsh admitted on his last awful CWU live performance that they are going to sell the functional supplements to fund a pay rise in 2025.

The CWU intends to equalise terms and conditions NOT harmonise them. Walsh is planning to use the functional supplements to fund whatever equalising involves. The equalisation is not going to be an upward harmonisation. If anything it will be a downward equalisation. In short if you're not a member don't waste your money joining. The CWU has zero intention of making things any better for you. It just wants your money.

If new contracts are eventually equal to the legacy contracts this poses a problem for all legacy part timers when many of those new entrants were brought in on full time contracts so will end up on equal terms with a full time contract despite joining the business years, in some cases over a decade, after the legacy part timers still waiting on a permanant full time contract.

RM bringing in new entrants on 35+ hour contracts whilst there are 30- legacy part timers in the office is what has stopped many of us being offered a full time contract.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

One rumour is that we’ll have our 40-hr contracts reduced to 37 hours, albeit paid the same annual salary as we currently get, so that our breaks would ostensibly be paid, in this scenario we would do eight hours from clock-in to clock-out, rather than the current 8hr 40mins, but with a 40-minute break included — 7hrs 20mins of work. True?

Surprised it's not been spoken of on here as it's an important issue

Remind me again of one thing that's improved for postal workers since the creation of the CWU? The letter carries were better off in their own union.

Watch the last time Walsh was allowed to front that tinpot CWU live shambles. He admitted it.
