What happens if you cant get in because of snow?
Had 4 inches snow today so cant get in. I know obviously you wont get paid, but manager also mentioned you have to make that day back up another time, is that right? They said i can either use it as a days AL or take a days unpaid & work a 6 day week another time to make it up. Can you not just lose a days pay and move on?
Been here years so am on the old contract if that makes any difference.

You should be instructed to go to the nearest office.

Can’t get to any office. Nearest is 15 min drive all downhill (some steep downhills) and i live in one of the highest villages in the country at top of a hill, buses not running and noy risking the drive for a days wage.

Get your lazy ass in and get the tracked done.
I was off the other week for a day as I had issues to deal with at home, they just made it an unpaid days leave and nothing was said when I got back in the next day- I found I was unpaid when I looked at my pay slip- no other options discussed.

How can you have a day off without pay, and then still have to work 6 days next week? It's one or the other.Otherwise you're paying back double.

You won't be allowed to drive to an alternate office as chances are your car insurance won't cover you to drive to an office that isn't your usual place of workmattandbenny wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 07:37Can’t get to any office. Not really when you take out a policy you have to say whether it will be used for commuting or not, usually this is specified as a regular place of work.Londonsburning wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 12:11This s a load of nonsense, car insurance allows you to drive anywhere you wantSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 11:57You won't be allowed to drive to an alternate office as chances are your car insurance won't cover you to drive to an office that isn't your usual place of workmattandbenny wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 07:37Can’t get to any office. Car insurance firms class going between multiple sites of a firm as business use, which is a separate type of car insuranceLondonsburning wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 12:11This s a load of nonsense, car insurance allows you to drive anywhere you wantSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 11:57You won't be allowed to drive to an alternate office as chances are your car insurance won't cover you to drive to an office that isn't your usual place of workmattandbenny wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 07:37Can’t get to any office. Re: What happens if you cant get in because of snow?
Here we go again.
Commuting on a car insurance policy usually means "to and from a fixed place of employment". You can add level 1 business insurance that will cover you travelling to different locations. Some companies include it anyway (that has been the case for me with Aviva and LV) and some will add it for a fairly small fee - it would not include "commercial travelling" which would be what a travelling salesman would have, or "hire and reward" which would be taxis and even couriers.
The only correct answer would be the one you get by asking your insurance company before you do it. Different companies have different T&Cs in the same way that some allow you to drive other cars on a third party basis, but others don't.

Take it as unpaid and that’s it. No need to work an extra day unless you want to make up some of the lost pay.

If he had an accident on his way to another delivery office, when ringing insurance you would just say you wasn't in work that day and going out for the day somewhere else... Wich is perfectly fine under 'social pleasure'. Whatever it is
