Voluntary reduncy
For eg if one voluntary redundancy is happening in a small office , I'm double checking is it done on seniority, if 1 member of staff had 15 years service and the other had 25 years service would the latter get the chance to take it, if 4 people wanted 1 place to take would it go on the member of staff with the longest service.

Re: Voluntary reduncy
Any proposed program of redundancies, whether voluntary or compulsory, isn't agreed by the CWU therefore neither is seniority as the method of determining potential candidates, even though it is probably the fairest way for those voluntarily choosing to give up their job. RM used to offer EVR (early voluntary redundancy) for those over 55 when they wanted to replace full timers with those on a part time contract but this was stopped several years ago.
VR is offered to everyone who is eligible in RM and creates a pool of people that RM can score based on criteria including skills, like for example, driving. The full list of skills that could be used is in this link below

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Voluntary reduncy
With sale of the company looking like it's going be approved, there might be a wave of redundancy to remove those on legacy work contracts.

Re: Voluntary reduncy
I'd say they'll be a massive redundacy with the changes to the USO.
About 25% of the workforce.
I'd imagine a deal will be done with the union for 16 weeks + Bonus to leave.
Seniority first to get rid of the legacy contracts.
Then with them reduced. Eventually outnumbered by the new inferior contracts everyone will be forced onto a uniform contract.
Probably about £1 above minimum wage.

Re: Voluntary reduncy
Be surprised if CWU actually negotiate improved EVR terms…..how on earth they let RM reduce it from 2 years to 9 months

So they just except it?….no fight?
That’s something I’m sure most of us would’ve made a stand against

Re: Voluntary reduncy
Not so long ago RM were deeming the job too physical for the over 55's and paid them a generous EVR.
Now we have plenty of staff in that age bracket with 5 times more parcels and double the size of duties. And we are now actually recruiting staff in that age bracket who have left other jobs.

A different RM these days, new starters are like cannon fodder, if they can't keep pace with the workload or go sick replace them with the next in linePerseus wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 15:27Not so long ago RM were deeming the job too physical for the over 55's and paid them a generous EVR.
