I am on a call be quick…… Hahaha

Post by Custard Jelly »

Havent had this one in a while. But I had 5-7 this week. I remember in the covid era. It was mostly every door.

So we posties knock there door. They open door and say “BE QUICK I AM ON A CALL” I think to myself can’t u tell him them hold on for 5-10 mins. Am sure they can.

If they rush me. I mess about on the pda. Pretend the pda is not working. Ask for there name. How to spell it Hahahaha. Even on a non signature lol

What do my fellow posties do in this situation ???

Would love hear it on this one lol

I do exactly the same as you! I pretend the PDA is freezing, all the while keeping my hand on the packet and not handing it over for a few seconds longer. When they try to give a shush, I make a point of saying quite loudly “Thanks very much” in a cheerful voice, sort of passive-aggressive way. My real pet hate is the snatcher - rude people who snatch the parcel or packet from your hand and slam the door.

I respect the fact that some people are still working from home and attempt to effect the transaction speedily.
What do you gain from being a complete dickhead?
I honestly find some of my "colleagues" a total embarrassment.

For me it depends. If people are unnecessarily rude or obnoxious when they answer the door then they will receive the same courtesy back.

Ah, you are clearly far more tolerant than me, Clash, and all fair play to you for being able to rise above bad manners from customers. From my own experience of working from home, I found a momentary push of the Mute button on my headset did the trick for the five or so seconds needed to thank another human being for delivering something to me. Anyway, i think this thread is more light-hearted than anything.

People behaving like entitled dicks isn't light hearted.
Your experience of working from home isn't necessarily everyone's experience.
Maybe they are in a disciplinary meeting. Maybe they are talking to the surgeon about to perform their child's transplant.
You have no idea. But because they haven't jumped up immediately the all important postie has knocked on the door they are at fault.

I think some of you really need to give your head a wobble.

Same, I've had people say "I'm working",
I've replied so am I.

On numerous occasions I've been really tempted to say the best way to avoid people knocking on your door with parcels is to stop ordering stuff but for obvious reasons I've never had the pleasure of doing so.

No, the Tracked 24-pack of toilet paper was what was important.

I just hand them the parcel, get the squiggle if needed and plod on. At least they are in. It annoys me more when people order loads and aren’t about to take delivery and don’t have a place to leave anything.

It’s the ones who answer the door in an obvious huff and snatch the packet off you in silent rage as if it’s your fault they ordered some worthless tat off Amazon which you would think they would appreciate US DELIVERING TO THEM ON AMAZON’S BEHALF! But I digress.

That is the biggest load of bullshit I have read.
"I'm on a call, be quick" is being nothing more than rude. It comes from people who think they are self entitled. I think they need to give their heads a wobble.
