Amazon Packages falling apart.

Post by menditsa »

Today was my best one ever, lifted up a Amazon box or tried to and the whole thing fell apart.
Guess what it contained ?

I notice RM seem to get all the heavy and poorly packed stuff lately.

If you're a Amazon driver getting a flat rate per delivery then it makes sense for them to direct anything heavy/awkward to RM?

Can’t agree more regarding recent Amazon parcels. If it’s not large boxes with their contents falling out, small packets overfilled, it’s labels not being fixed on properly.

Thing is with Amazon the driver could deliver to houses 71 73 32 and 33 and will only get paid for one drop as they are close to each other.

And to be honest they just don't care, they dump and run anyway, bit like the Agency DPR drivers we have at my DO.

That’s terrible. What a rip off?

Amazon drivers aren’t paid by the drop - or at least they weren’t when I was an Amazon driver (2018-2023). Agree completely re the crappy boxes though!

Similar happened to me. I rang the bell and when the customer answered I picked it up and the contents (a ceramic garden ornament figure ) dropped to the floor losing its head.
Unsurprisingly the customer refused the item :cool

Occasionally they use boxes that are way too big for whatever is inside. You can hear the contents sliding about as the box is moved.

I had this happen with 8 x 2L cartons of milk sent in the usual badly sized flimsy box, no padding, no packing materials at all, just cellophane around the cartons. Got to my first delivery point, opened the back doors of the van and was greeted with a mini waterfall of milk.

The milk covered the entire floor of the van and soaked everything else.

The box was for a guy living on the 11th floor of a high rise and I had to tell the guy to put it in his bath because I sure as hell wasn't putting it back in my van and if he had refused it, it would have gone in the nearest bin.

I get this all the time and regularly have to explain to the recipient that Amazon are always doing this.

Absolutely ludicrous and I have yet to see sack trolleys being made readily available for the bulkier more awkward parcels.

Had one of these myself a few days ago. Box fell apart loading into van, contained 32 bottles of Lucozade.

Are sack trolleys anywhere to be seen at your place?

We’ve got one sack trolley to share with over 100 posties. One duty tends to have it to themselves. :arrrghhh
