Notice Period

Hi,

So I have been offered a new job, hybrid office work. Although they want me to start in 2 weeks time, my notice period states 4 weeks. My question is, do I really have to give 4 weeks to these imbeciles? Says they can terminate you with a weeks notice, but I have to give 4, doesn’t seem fair?

I use the term imbeciles because the handling of the election material and work load has been ridiculous. Everyone in my DO have complained at how badly it’s been managed this time around. So I came to the conclusion, why am I exhausting myself for a company that doesn’t give a toss?

If you are paid weekly it is a week’s notice. If you already have another job I wouldn’t worry, though you might lose annual leave payments owed to you.

Just the same as any other job where an employee is paid monthly? Just speak to your manager and see if they'll let you leave with 2 weeks notice.

Technically if you left without notice they can sue you for the cost of a replacement until your notice would have ended, but from what I understand it’s only a courtesy thing anyway. Think about if you were on a stage 3 and they decided to dispense with your services immediately ,offer them the same courtesy.
