Low season

Low season until further notice. What's that about then?
Working 35 hours instead of 37 hours for around 21 weeks would pay off the high season period, is that right?

Are we just going to be high season/low season from now on?

Is anyone keeping track of this? It's twisting my melon man.

Even during 'low season' we are still not clearing so it isn't making that much difference. I'm guessing that they might decide to use this to extend the peak season or possibly even extend peak season's hours from 39....

Yeah they just wing it now,it seems they just want to have a system were they can just change working times as and when mail and parcels are perceived to be low or high were getting closer and closer to agency rules.

Has this been officially announced ? Our manager hasn't told us, I thought this current extension ended 24th march so back to normal w/c Mon 25th.

As someone else said it's a concern as I can forsee them saying you owe us that much so as from November you're going to have to do a 45hr week or something ridiculous.

winging it sounds about right... going to be a long winter, later finish times are coming in from May/June....then add at least another 20 minutes to that with the busier period....coming back to the office in school rush hour to finish on time, or staying out until ~4.30pm in the dark trying to complete in the colder weather.

My plans are now to leave before next winter comes....which is probably what they want. It's not going to take long for them to end up with a majority of employees on the newer contracts.

This time last year I made the same decision that I would be out before delivering another Christmas - thankfully I was out by the start of October! Best thing I ever done!

Is this just annualised hours lite? The Union should be pushing for a standardised 35hr week outside of November December if it’s working.

I thought about that, just looked it up, if you don't opt out it's a maximum of 48 hours but that's actual work excluding breaks so if it turns out we do get shafted into having to pay all these hours back at Christmas as a result from extending the low season 35 hour weeks then realistically it could be over 2 hours per day.....don't fancy that much
