RMCtv : Preparing for Peak (Xmas in old money)- creating a clean and tidy office in readiness for the Christmas rush

Post by POSTMAN »

At Christmas, there’s an increase in footfall from new starters and agency colleagues, as well as an increase in equipment and the volume of mail and parcels.

It can be tough to keep things tidy, but as part of ‘Preparing for Peak’, all colleagues should now be getting their unit ready for the increased volume of traffic.

With some good planning and regular housekeeping over the coming months, we can all maintain a safe and pleasant working environment that minimises the risk of slips and trips enables colleagues to do their best work – safely and productively. Here’s how:
  • Keeping your unit clean and tidy during for Peak
  • Everyone has a responsibility for keeping the workplace clean and tidy at all times
  • Workstations and offices etc should be kept tidy and free of clutter
  • It’s more important than ever to dispose of rubbish and recycling as soon as you can using the designated equipment, ensuring that items for storage / recycling are put into the designated containers / equipment
  • Keep walkways, aisles and fire escape routes clear of obstructions at all times
  • Ensuring that fire wardens are appointed to clear your unit in the event of a fire alarm
  • Talking to your manager if you can think of ways to keep everything clear, clean and tidy.

Peak is a hugely import time for us as a company.

It's also important for our customers, it's also important for our customers' customers.

It's going to be busy and we love the fact it's going to be busy, so of course we're going to prepare.

We're opening extra capacity. We're taking on thousands of extra vans. We're taking on thousands of extra people.

This peak is hugely important for a number of reasons.

You know, we've gone through a difficult period. Obviously we were impacted by covid and of course, last peak was also impacted.

But this peak is our chance to show our customers that we're back. Royal mail delivering for millions of customers over that important period, and that's why we need everybody now to focus on making sure our customers get what they paid for this peak.

All of our staff across the business, focus at this point in the year. So we're asking everybody, make sure your office is ready, make sure you're returning all the trays and the Yorks, get them back in time please and also make sure they're having a bit of fun with each other as well because it's a great time for you to celebrate what a brilliant company we are.

Peak is going to be probably wet, it's sometimes cold.
We know what when we deliver peak for our customers, they really appreciate what we do.

So it's just about making sure you follow all the processes. Making sure you're safe when you go out and we look after each other.

We have been trusted for 500 years to get parcels and letters to people for Christmas, let's be honest, we've done it many, many times in the past and it's important that after all the troubles we've had in the last few years that we show all of our customers, we are back, they can trust Royal Mail and we really do deliver Christmas
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

He's having a giraffe.
Peak this year is going to be an absolute s!"t show.
Most offices can't cope now let alone when volumes triple.
Still I'll be handing in my notice 2nd of Jan.

  • Talking to your manager if you can think of ways to keep everything clear, clean and tidy.
The previous six bullet points all rephrased 'keep [location] clean and tidy', although it wasn't an exhaustive list of locations in our operation. So I'll pitch 'keep the toilets clean and tidy' by not coming to work with explosive diarrhea. Or if your sick pay is alread used up, do.
The machine stops.

Yeah it would be great when managers stop piling weeks worth of mail and D2Ds on your frame soon as you go on leave. Don't worry though, they do a swell job of clearing the tracked for us. :cuppa

No way they’re smart enough to preempt problems….it’s code for someone or something has happened and we’re now being sued…same thing happened after a manager set fire to a delivery office while using untested electronic equipment.

Lol. I'm bringing mail back every single day after these bastards stuck an extra hour on my frame overnight in an unagreed "revision".

You really think I'm going to go the extra mile to "deliver Christmas"??

Already flooded with agency, do we have to work with them ? We need proper good bloody help on sorting etc, no doubt we'll get 2-3 d2d over Christmas, damn pizza shite. Yeah had the clean and tidy crap, took the white drawer units from under the frames. Places to hide the mail and pkts IF the big knobs bother to look around, while the foxes and rats are ready for the parcel york's outside the MC's again - unless they hide them in wagons . Post now for Christmas 2024 🎅
