Whinging/moaning Post people
I understand there's a lot of changes coming our way either in Mail Center's or Delivery. With us competing with the likes of Amazon DPD and other couriers. Things do need to change some good some bad but if we need a long term employment we reluctantly have to soak up all what Royal Mail throw at us.
Yes I do believe the delivery staff have it harder has they are on the front line.
So as on Twitter one certain postman always moaning. The way I see it start on time go home on time and do the job you are employed to do.
Let the management do all the worrying it's not worth your mental health.
Why make the job harder when it shouldn't be.

People like/want normality.
RM need to make a plan and stick to it, simple as that. They need to man up and stop being cowards and deal with the problems THEY created.

Re: Whinging/moaning Post people
All very well but in delivery you have constant battles with certain management when you want to cut off, disagreements on what to leave in the frame etc etc, all designed to wear you down so you stop standing up for yourself. Most duties have been deliberately made bigger to antagonise those in delivery. And in our office, there is no sign of the oversized being taken away.notts1862 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 08:17I understand there's a lot of changes coming our way either in Mail Center's or Delivery. Re: Whinging/moaning Post people
I have been in both an MC and a DO.
It's a lot more relaxed in an MC. There is no pressure (compared to a DO) and managers come around not to ensure you are working hard, but that everything is okay and going to plan.
It's 2 different worlds, if I could go back to an MC I would take a drop in pay to do it.

Competition aren’t 2 in a van pissballing about. They just seem to crack on delivering the parcels but Royal Mail want us to do all sorts on the side and reduce efficiency. Me and my partner recently had our duty increased in size to an unmanageable level so I just ask the manager what he wants me to prioritise, there’s a lot of huffing and puffing and posturing but in the end we just take out a reasonable amount. A shameful state of affairs.

No, no we don't. RM need to get real with what is physically possible. They need to start treating its employees with the respect they deserve. Overloading employees with too much work is a form of B&H and it needs addressing. Being questioned and having to explain yourself everyday why you can't complete is exhausting.

The problem with that theory is who decides what too much work is?Overloading employees with too much work is a form of B&H and it needs addressing. Being questioned and having to explain yourself everyday why you can't complete is exhausting
The business has become reliant on computerised resourcing tools which most of the time will tell managers the amount of workload is manageable which means any explanation is not only exhausting it's also pointless.
I think we also have to be honest and admit that the level of performance across a DO and even between areas is patchy at best so agreeing a base line standard performance level that would be needed to decide what "overloading" actually looked like is impossible and also pointless.
We could start a new thread on what too much work actually looks like and get a hundred different answers.
The only tool we have and the only way to keep sane is to stop looking at it like a fixed amount of workload and start thinking of it more like a factory job, do what you can to the best of your ability until clocking off time, then go home.

Management have no worries at all. Infact they can happily walk past frames with a week full of mail now and not have worry about it. The mail people bring back, (and waste more time putting it back in the frame) who is delivering that the next day do you think?notts1862 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 08:17I understand there's a lot of changes coming our way either in Mail Center's or Delivery. Whilst I agree its not black and white I think if a duty has consistently failed for years on end since these revisions started to be implemented would give a fairly good indication of it. Especially when the office used to clear prior to it and ever since has failed.

A fair committee made up of, but not limited to: RM, the CWU, an accurate pedometer, a GIS (Geographic Information System) expert for physical geography and terrain mapping, a physiotherapist and a psychologist. That's for a start off the top of my head.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 16:11

How many steps can a person walk in a day? Flat or hilly? Day after day; Six days a week (because they are pestered to work their day off); while carrying the pouch with straps that cannot be adjusted because someone has tied knots in them! And carrying it because a trolley is too slow (they are, I've tried to make it work).
Surely there is a limit. As we are all built differently, so some will not be able to achieve that limit and some could go further. With the new performance data who's to say where the limit is. I'm not the slowest in the office nor the fastest. I'm not the oldest nor the most fresh faced. So am I performing below, as required, or above my limit?
Some fair bars need setting so you can aspire to achieve something.

Re: Whinging/moaning Post people
The business have deliberately made many walks unachievable and because managers are only being assessed on Tracked items, collections, consumers etc. What is NOT being delivered on a daily basis is the mail and it's quite convenient that this isn't being accurately reported.
Whilst it's all well and good telling posties that they should think of it as doing what you can within your hours but the issues will always arise when COMs are pushed to try and get mail that has built up over a few days delivered. And that's where the Union should step in because people are not machines. They have created the problems, not us.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Whinging/moaning Post people
There are too many variables. If Royal Mail looked after and valued its workforce instead of patronising them and controlling and bullying them , they might see an increase in productivity and staff retention , it’s no good insulting people by calling them whingeing and moaning , many have legitimate reasons to complain. Royal Mail management , especially the senior idiots in charge (nominally at least) hate the staff ,never known a company like it.
