They've changed the rules for free flue jabs at GP's and pharmacies since last year.

The minimum age has increased from 50 to 65, unless you meet certain criteria.

I have been told by a manager that RM are not offering them due to money, but not how we would reasonable assume.

Apparently RM have to bulk buy in advance with whatever pharmacy chain it was that we could go to. In previous years uptake by staff has not been sufficiently high to justify the upfront outlay this year.

Of course the fact that this decision has been made in the same year when sickness absences are being treated more harshly by the employer and sick pay is tighter, is a simple and honest coincidence.


I also think I read that the NHS is reducing the criteria of who will qualify for one this year, so those of us who could previously get one for free may find ourselves paying ourselves.

That said a cost of between £10 and £15, is much less than many would lose under the new sick pay rules, and a whole lost less painful than a fortnight of flu is
