18 years done, time to say goodbye!

Apologies for my 1st post being a goodbye post!

So after 18 (mostly) enjoyable years, I've decided now is the right time to try something new...

I've unfortunately been one of the victims of "Royal Mail's bright idea squad" and lost my walk when they decided they needed to make everyone else's round bigger to accommodate/justify the new PCR routes.

Since then I've been passed from pillar to post and duty to duty mostly covering the walks that obviously haven't had the tracked parcels etc prioritised as we all know Royal Mail doesn't do things like that🫣 but have since become quite disillusioned with it all, especially the way we are being treated by the glorified failed postmen/women who couldn't do the job correctly/fully in the first place so decided they'd be better of in a role that needs absolutely no people skills what so ever because they'd never think to use them!

So as of the 19th September, my 1 weeks notice will be served and I'll be off

I've met some fantastic people along the way and made some life long friends but unfortunately the job and company isn't what it used to be...

I wish the rest of you all the best and I really do hope things pan out better in the future

I will hopefully be posting a similar post in the not so distant future, done 25+ years - was a good enjoyable job back in the day... well up until the revisions came in!

It's always a difficult decision, especially not knowing if things will be any better anywhere else! But I can't wait around in the hope of a minor miracle happening!

Go for it if your thinking of it tho, I'd rather know I have given myself the best chance of actually being happy in a job rather than constantly dreading work the next day....

What a shame, a once brilliant company turned into another s**t show. The bastards can't have your memories and I'm sure you've many good ones, good luck to the future and I'm sure there'll be many joining you in the next few months.

dont give a weeks notice the now unless u have a job to go to , at least wait till u get ur payment as u wont get it come 29th not the full whack, only about 400 as u get taxed 40 percent for early leavers

I am leaving on 2nd October for the same reason , taking early retirement before I get crippled by this company.
I am doing 21 blocks of flats on my own and being 62 its too much and they want to make the walks bigger
I am fortunate to have enough to get me by till retirement and feel sorry for the ones that have another 5 -10 years to go.
We are just a number .

I was ihr earlier this year after 20 years service the mental stress of working for such a toxic employer had taken its toll.
I have started my own business and although it's terrifying going out on my own it's made me realise that there's a whole world of opportunities out there.
Good luck to anybody that decides that this isn't the business they joined..my old office is unrecognisable
All the old characters are long gone...we used to have race days Christmas drinks none of which happens anymore.
I hope I'm wrong but I don't see the future being bright now royalmail know that the workforce don't have a strong union to back them.

It's an HMRC thing.
You'll get it back assuming you don't land a job earning £100k+ pa.

I left last week after 25 years service, and I feel like its a weight off my shoulders already.
I couldn't hang around for my tax free bonus as I start my new job on Monday.
However just glad to get out of a toxic environment, and look forward to a new challenge.
I reckon many will follow us after September.

Good for you Ryan. I did the same 6 weeks ago and honestly wish I'd done it years ago.
The Royal Mail culture is pure poison now, from the top down, especially in delivery.
Make sure you screenshot all relevant info on the people's app before your last day, because you'll probably need it.
