Are career breaks still a thing if you want to go travelling? Does it depend on if there’s vacancies / on the office / manager ?

Not sure how they work but they are still a thing. I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I am currently half way through my six months career break. So yes it is still a thing. Just put it in writing to your manager then they should give you the correct forms to fill in. Officially it needs 3 months notice. I gave a years notice and it took them 10 months to confirm that I had it. I have no intention of going back so have 3 more months to sort myself out. Just waiting for my lump sum on 29/9 to hand notice in. I’m thinking of handing notice in so I have to go back for one day then tell them to stick their crappy job and walk out. (Just for closure for myself after 14 years ). The last three have been utterly sh*te. Good luck.
