Most of the pension isn’t backed by the Royal Mail though is it, only the amounts payed since privatisation? I did mention months ago the pension scheme being the elephant in the room though, time to get out?

Most of the pension is paid by the government, the rest is in a fund run by trustees independent of Royal Mail.
Sounds like someone is scaremongering .

Because We are being persuaded to vote yes to prevent this happening by a rep. So it’s boll0x yes?

This is out of order then. It’s not a deal at all. Everything is coming with a threat if We don’t vote Yes. Even worse we are being lied to about it.

The final salary and part of the career average pension are paid by the government, the rest is held in a fund run by trustees independent of Royal Mail

The deal is that good, only threats and outright scaremongering are being used to sell it.

My vote will be No to this shite deal.

Let the bastards do what they like.

They will anyway, whether it's deal, or no deal.

There was a post on here quoting Dave Ward as saying he feared RM might pull out of the new CDC pension as it would be unaffordable.
Is someone perhaps getting confused?

They won't be after the pension pot but they might not be relaxed about the new pension scheme?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Just to clarify.....

RM DB pensions up to 2012 are backed by the government.

From 2012 to 2018 they're managed by the trustees who aren't part of RM. But if there's a deficit in the scheme, the company are responsible.

The DBCBS from 2018 to present, is on the company balance sheet and so RM are directly responsible for that.

If the company goes bust and can't afford their pension liabilities, the Pension Protection Fund would likely step in.

The RMDCP isn't relevant to this subject.

They will probably try and slash their contribution % in exchange for a cash bung in the next deal of the century.
