Re: Transfer to Winchester
In terms of the union branch, it's probably Great Western. They could help you get in touch with the manager at the DO you want to move to:
Great Western (T&FS)
The Great Western branch is an amalgamation of the Gloucester & North Wilts, South West Engineering, Solent and South West & Thames Valley branches which merged in 2013.

Re: Transfer to Winchester
Quickest route is to apply for a job there. Transfers were done through success factors but am not sure if this exists anymore.

Re: Transfer to Winchester
Just find out who the lead COM is and phone them up , better still go in there and see them in person, don’t faff about with success factors, that’s wasting valuable time.

Re: Transfer to Winchester
As others have said try and get in touch with someone rather than applying for that as it's on the new t&cs there's obviously a vacancy available but you don't want to risk inadvertently getting yourself on the worse contract as a new starter would.Boltonian-White wrote: ↑19 May 2023, 12:17Quickest route is to apply for a job there. Re: Transfer to Winchester
When I used success factors it was quick so how's it a faff? I just put together a basic CV, applied and got called into the office by my old COM within a couple of days. They'd rather have a transfer in than a new starter any day.rubberbond wrote: ↑19 May 2023, 18:11Just find out who the lead COM is and phone them up , better still go in there and see them in person, don’t faff about with success factors, that’s wasting valuable time.
As for your T&Cs I've no idea. If you get accepted then you can always say no if the T&Cs are worse. Even if you are accepted for a transfer you do NOT have to take it.
The biggest problem here is if the office you're in already has staffing problems then your COM can refuse / delay your transfer. Another problem might be if the office you want to transfer into has a useless COM. You can go visit all you want but it doesn't mean you'll get a transfer there.
In the meantime people are applying for that vacancy and once they have the numbers then it'll be closed for interviews.

Re: Transfer to Winchester
I transferred a few years ago,I found it easier to go to the office in person and speak to the dom in charge,in my case they said they would have me.
I just had to get Xmas done at my old office before they would let me go to the office I transferred to.
Sometimes it’s better to go in person and sort it out yourself.
That said,it depends on where you’re transferring from.
If it’s half way across the country then that’s more difficult.
If it’s only a few miles up the road then try to see the dom who’s office you want to transfer to in person.
