Hi, here is the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 30 November... Comments welcomed!
SIMPLE SOLUTION
Managers say that due to a “surplus”, they want to cut
250 jobs (130 from processing)!! We never have
enough hands, even with their new PSM – in fact it
makes more work for us! But if there were extra
hands, it would make “light work” – and a shorter
working week!
WHY WAIT TILL THE 9th ?
It's a good thing that the union officials have
responded to Thompson’s s**t, by organising buses
from all over the country to rally at the company's HQ
(185?) during our next strike day, Fri 9 Dec! That'll be
a chance to meet workmates from elsewhere and talk
about strengthening our strike!
RE-NATIONALISATION!
In one of their latest LTBs, CWU officials tell us they'll
meet with big shareholders on 6 Dec, to "dismantle
RM Group's reckless plans and set out the union
vision for the future of the company". Yes, we have
our own vision, which is to bring it back into public
hands - our hands! So should we turn up to this
meeting as well, in our numbers, to demand
renationalisation?
SUSPEND WORK!
One of our sorting reps, Eddie, has been suspended by
managers – he must be brought back now! Workers at
other DOs are being suspended for picket line activity
and all sorts of other things. We’re in the middle of a
dispute: if managers are behaving this way, we
should withdraw all hands!
REINSTATE OUR WORKMATE NOW!
Managers think they can get away with murder now?
They also suspended one of our WC deliveries
workmates for posting something on social media
they didn't like… So now they’re spying on us as
well? Our mate must be reinstated and offered an
apology!
AN INJURY TO ONE...
Why would it put our national dispute in “danger” if
we walk out on the spot in defence of our workmates?
In our experience, it’s the only way to defend
ourselves and our workmates – especially when we’re
picked on individually. They attack one of us? We hit
back! Simple.
ANOTHER ATTACK
And now HR have sent a letter to reps, saying they will
take days of allocated unpaid leave off us for going on
strike! So we’d then have fewer days if we need to
take them later in the year. No way. This just makes
us more angry and determined to beat them.
WHERE'S MY MAIL?
DUMs' plan to scrap evening collections is a stupid
joke! Yes, they want these to be done as part of the
delivery round, during the day! It would mean a
mountain of undelivered mail bags piling up – and
they can forget about next-day deliveries!
BUILD HIS BACKBONE?
We're fed up with Mount managers refusing to give
part-timers the full-time duties we usually get over
Xmas. In other MCs (like Greenford) they’ve done it,
so why not here?! Is Baby Boss afraid to go against
the instructions of his CEO? Maybe we should all pop
over to 185 to “galvanise” him?
SAFER WITHOUT MANAGERS!
Managers couldn't care less about our safety; we
know that! But we were shocked to see casuals
working on the platform without hi-vis – dangerous for
both them and the drivers. Managers don't provide
this basic equipment, nor safe footwear, nor even
basic training!
NO ONE SHOULD STRIKE ALONE
RMPFS will be on strike again on 5 December, but why
on earth not at the same time as everyone else?!
Since bosses refuse to budge, it’ll be much easier to
knock them out the way if we’re all together! By the
way, if the toilets and the walkways are dirty, it’s a
hazard: nobody can work..!
WELCOME!
In fact, we've been so short of hands on the cleaning
side, that Elephant's brought in 6 (?) agency workers.
The problem is, we don't want them to wait 6 months
for their RM contracts to be issued - they need to be
permanent now! And not just because we want them
to be on strike with us...
WHAT'S THE POINT?
The union leaders announced the next dates for the
Crown Post Office strikes, on... 12th and 13th Dec! And
here again we wonder, why should these workmates
(less than 2,000 of them in Crowns and admin) be out
on their own, when the 115,000 of us are going on
strike Sunday 11th and Wednesday 14th?? Are union
officials afraid of us fraternising with each other?
NOTHING TO RECOMMEND IT
CWU leaders are recommending the latest BT pay
offer to their members, which is a flat rate £1,500/year
for everyone on up to £50,000. This is apparently
equivalent to 16% for the lowest paid. But £1,500
won’t even pay half an average energy bill this year.
We hope our BT mates don’t vote for this, and instead,
join us on strike!

Re: 30/11/22 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
I believe it might be similar for us, I'm guessing that every MCM has been ordered to cut hours/jobs, it wouldn't surprise me if the same holds true in DOsjimallen wrote: ↑01 Dec 2022, 10:14SIMPLE SOLUTION

Re: 30/11/22 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
We had a revision which actually work pretty well it’s only been in 11 months and they want to do another one. Think they want 15 duties to go which Is 555 hours.

Re: 30/11/22 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
BT have basically offered £3,000 overall with further pay reviews next year. This is actually a good offer - and it’s a reflection of the hard work of CWU members going out for a better deal !jimallen wrote: ↑01 Dec 2022, 10:14

More of a reflection (or even harsh reality) that the average BT worker is skilled and can't be replaced instantly by agency workers.

Re: 30/11/22 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
Aye, over 200 in ours, about 7 FT jobs. Decided by deskbound dicks who've never even set foot in our DO.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.
