***Extra*** Bank holiday for King Charles III Coronation

Post by SpacePhoenix »

On multiple newspaper websites that its been officially confirmed that there will be a UK wide Bank Holiday on May 8th 2023.

No idea if RM will apply to OFCOM for the actual day of the coronation (May 6th 2023) to be declared a no-service day

If the current animosity continues, I’d be surprised if Thompson didn’t apply for an exemption for the 8th May.

From what I've been reading it's an additional BH and not just an existing one being moved

We are the ROYAL Mail and to have us all delivering Screwfix catalogues, Farm Foods leaflets and hundreds of packets and parcels while the new King is being crowned would not only be disrespectful but a great insult. No doubt there are some anti-Monarchists amongst us (not me), but I guarantee all of us have never seen a coronation and some of us may never see another after this one. The coronation will be a major historical event and we should all be given the opportunity to witness it while it is happening. It has to be a non-service day!

I'm pro monarch very much in favour of the constitutional government system so I will be celebrating it in style with loads of beers 🍻 🍻 and a good smoky BBQ 🍗 🍔 enough to make Greta have a massive nervous meltdown :chuckle

Can't see Si asking for a non-service day on the Saturday as well as us getting Monday off as a public hol.

It's a bit baffling why it's taking place on the Saturday when the BH is on the following Monday, so anybody due to work that day will miss it.
