Doncaster redelivery rather than CSP experiment

Post by ohnaka »

Can anyone in the Doncaster area let us know how RM’s experiment with automatic redeliveries instead of returning item to CSP with a 739 is going?
As someone who works in a CSP we are keen to know if and how they will make it work.
Is there an increased workload being put onto the Posties?

Not form Doncaster so I can't answer but I deliver to predominantly students who never answer the door before midday. I take back about half a york of pkts everyday. If this comes in my van will be going out everyday brimming with pkts and we would not be able to fit anything else on!

I can't see how it could do anything but add to the OPG's workload.

In the past I've been more than happy for my deliveries to go back to the local DO as I simply couldn't be at home to accept them. I even had an arrangement with my regular postie (remember those!) to simply leave any packets in the office and just bring out a card to save them the bother as I was in a terraced with no 'safeplace' and didn't want my neighbours being bothered - or indeed to bother the postie with knocking on neighbours.

It will be a success no matter how badly it went .

It'll be deemed a success, with CSPs closed down or only open for one hour a day

This.

Remember the Deliver to Neighbour trial?

RM said "our trials show it takes no extra time". Which must break some basic law of physics.

Or who are short sighted to think of it as "saving money" when they can reduce CSP hours..

My manager said they are get “bollocked”, for want of a better word; if we fail to do these auto redeliveries. They want it prioritised. Which will put pressure on OPGs adding to already unmanageable workloads to get rid of the parcel (which a lot will because same again if you bring it back) - and they will claim it is a success.

Then Shutdown more CSP.

All In the name of saving money / sorry “modernisation”.

We’re closing down the “Customer Service Points”, for the benefit of the “Customer”.

It’s the modern way.

By some miracle, all the other couriers that do this always get it delivered first time. Doorstepping is the truth none can admit to, but it's the winner on the balance sheet between reality and profit. Royal Mail's losing streak is the result of playing with a bunch of card cheats.
The machine stops.

Take everything back to the office. Then charge the customer for doing a day's worth of Keepsafe.

Or better yet... My building hasn't had a delivery attempted all week. Charge me and my neighbors for this and watch the profits just crank up.
