"Local Parcel Hubs" idea been abandonded?

Post by SpacePhoenix »

Has the idea of "local parcel hubs" delivering all the large for a group of DOs been abandoned? We've been getting the large that would have been cross docked and have to sort it, so each DO is now getting all it's large back, even though they might have already taken the hours out. It's possible that it's only temporarily been suspended until there's no more strikes.

Parcel hubs aren't a thing in my area at the moment, apart from on Sundays and strike days.

Our DO is a LAT office currently and we were told it would be a parcel hub, but they've now changed that and we're not going to be anymore. :Boo hoo!

We had builders in for the week after the "Parcel Hub" announcement, measuring things and generally tutting and shaking their heads at the layout of the frames. They installed a bunch of wiring in an unused area then were never seen again. We were down as one of the hubs, and we still get the large LATs for maybe 3 of the 10 or so areas they said we would, they go out after 1, taken by new starters (our contracts include the fact we may have to do later shifts) and casuals

No it hasn't.
Using the potential parcel hub strategy for IA recovery has.

Planning for the parcel hub strategy is going ahead behind the scenes but will not be implemented until late January.
I've seen the proposals.
They are of course ridiculous.

So, every morning some of our tracked go past our d.o on a van to get to another office which is a parcel hub,,, then every morning we have to send a van at 630 to the parcel hub to pick up the parcels and bring them to our d.o,, in the name of efficiency and modernisation, whilst the mail centre sends half empty vans to us that they couldve got tge packets on :d'oh!

We still get the lat area parcels in the morning. There is agency staff assigned to do them but they get nicked by all the offices to do walks or their core. The lat area parcels get shipped straight back to mail untouched at the end of the night.

Our manager & the lat manager dont want the lat guys to touch them either.

Any chance of sharing a snippet with us woody? I'm sure we all could do with a laugh at how ridiculous it is.

Yeah this week it's the same at our place, we're snowed under with mail the call rate has really shot up, initially thought maybe due to strike backlog but it's been relentless, busiest Tuesday I've had for ages.
