Change of holding company name to International Distributions Services plc
The Group’s holding company has now changed its name from Royal Mail plc to International Distributions Services plc.

We announced the decision to change our holding company name from Royal Mail plc to International Distributions Services plc in our Q1 results in July, and that has now been implemented.

Why have we changed the name?
The name change signals the increased importance of our international businesses to the group overall. It reflects our strength in markets outside the UK which shape our group performance and our position in the wider logistics and distribution markets.
What will change?

The Group holding company name has officially changed at Companies House and our shares traded on the London Stock Exchange will use the new name. However, you will see very little other change.
It will not have any impact on our brands which will remain the same. In addition, other than the name change, any shareholdings will be unaffected.

Just an ordinary postie here, but why change a name that was internationally recognised, respected and had a unique selling point. Into one which is bland, boring and similar to hundreds of other such companies. Oh wait.................... what is the Czech for delivery.

I do believe that the break up is/has been the goal of the company all the way through this dispute and going back years. I also believe the reasoning behind huge parcel sorting hubs and machinery is that they intend to "take these with them" in the split leaving RM UK with as little as possible.

No need to worry what ST's plans are post split as he and the rest of the board won't be here. Their task will be complete.

Two points of that theory, firstly would GLS have sufficient parcel capacity to warrant using such massive parcel hubs without RM's parcel business, it would all get a bit messy if RM decided to split the parcels business from the USO. Secondly, of RM have financed the building of the parcel hubs can then simply be hived off with GLS if the companies were split, or would they have to purchase them from RM, if not, then RM's account would show a massive loss?

2nd point first....its still one company umbrella at the moment and will be until the divide at which point I think they will have covered their bases regarding who owns what.
First point...The split won't just be GLS and then the other stuff. It's likely going to be GLS and Parcelforce plus network and parcel hubs. RM UK will be whatever is left...y'know the unprofitable bits.

ST won't give a rats ass about what's left.

Of course I am just a postie, probably over thinking all of this and more than likely a mile away from being 10 miles away from accurate.
