Royal Mail - For the people
We've been busily creating something new and exciting! So pleased to share a sneaky peak at our new recruitment campaign "For the people".
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Royal Mail - For the people
Why does Royal Mail fear putting white male faces in any of it's output?
We are a proud diverse company, but we are not made up of 97% women, posties of black ethnicity or Asian workers as every Courier or promotional video suggests.
Represent the white male too! It's not a bad thing!
(Yes it's okay to mention this if we're ever going to embrace equality)

"You would think we're in a better place because overt racism, overt sexism, overt homophobia is obviously not around anymore in the way that it was so therefore, we are giving the illusion that we've moved on."
"But in reality, things aren't getting any better for the inner city white people who still can't get jobs still can't get housing. And of course, for the inner city black people"
“So what we're doing is we're creating more black elites, more female elites. But nothing's changing for the white working classes or the black working classes or the northern working classes."
“So, yes, we can give the illusion that things are getting better, but in reality, things aren't getting better for the majority of the people.”

Re: Royal Mail - For the people
Not a clapped out faded pink Vauxhall Combo (or indeed any other van) in sight in the ad.
And where are the posties with a head torch delivering in the dark in the ad (which is what the future holds if RM have their way).
And pretty obvious they don't want to recruit anyone under 21 from the actors in the ad. Can't have any "oldies" slowing us down, can we?
At least they're right to point out it won't be a leisurely stroll. More like a route march to get eveything done before darkness falls.
Did anyone hear the RM radio ads a few months ago when they were plugging the parcel collect service? That too had the sly line about the postie character not being able to stop and chat because "the parcels won't collect themselves". Too right! Lo and behold that you should stop for more than 10 seconds.

Re: Royal Mail - For the people
I'd assume the "lack of white males" is because there's a lot of us already working there, that the public see every day. Targeting other groups in a recruitment drive is to show people that may be put off that "hey this is for you guys too."
But one could argue that trying to recruit anyone during industrial action and repeated pleas of poverty wouldn't attract that many people in the first place, regardless of race, gender or sexuality
