Just been offered new job

Post by Dannysmudge »

Just been offered a job by my local council as a street scene operative. It is Monday to Friday working 7.30 to 3.30.

I am quite tempted to take the job as by the sounds of what is to come it seems a lot better than staying at royal mail.

I'm just wanting some input from anyone really as I'm in two minds weather to stay and actually see what happens to our t and C's or just take the job and get out.

Congratulations, even if u don’t take it you now know there’s opportunities out there. Can’t see things getting any better personally, everyday there seems to be something else to spite us.

Postman is no longer one of the best jobs around but not sure litter picking is a step up?

If you have got a chance to get out - do it. Who knows where it will lead once you're settled in. I did it last year after just over 25 years and it is the best thing I did.

You know for a fact how bad this company has got - and will continue to do so.

Anyone who thinks that this dispute will be resolved and everything rosy is living in dreamworld.

I understand that it's not a step up however the working days are better i.e no weekend work as I currently work Sundays.

I have been with the company for a year and can only imagine what's coming. I actually don't mind the job but just don't want to be stuck with worse working conditions coming.

Good hours and weekends off sounds good to me. I did something like that when I left school on the agency I actually quite enjoyed it.

I left last month, new job went tits up but after a month I am now doing an ongoing temporary job. Less hours and a lower hourly rate, but far less stress and no weekend working at all. I have no regrets about leaving the company but I do miss the actual delivery side of the job. My old office is failing massively every day with loads of vacancies that will never be filled.

RM is being run into the ground. Everything may not be rosey if you get out, but look how far RM has fallen recently and look where it is going.

Get away from this accursed company while you still can.

7.30 - 3.30 Mon - Fri.

And likely not even half the utter shite we have to endure from these bastards on a daily basis.

I wouldn't need asking twice.

Check T&C’s of new job, if you are working for local council (& not a service provider) pension should be good.
