No one knows. Talk of them putting in the next weeks d2d’s, but what there aren’t any. Anyway, it appears to be a long way away yet, they haven’t got the pilots right- and won’t!

Various ideas have been floated, none of which make any real sense apart from going out in a shared van but taking 60-70% more work than a single van driver, to account for inefficiencies.
All totally avoidable when you remember back to 2020 and the dropping of letters from a Saturday. Fast forward 5 years and we are at 2nd class mail every other day - the CWU should have been proactive and pushed for free driving lessons for those that wanted them at the very start of any ideas to drop a 6 day letter service.

I was down for another Union meeting.

Nothing new really to tell everyone.

1) 18 out of the 35 pilot offices have now been signed off

2) Tracks are up 34% and total volumes up 10%

3) Still nothing on non drivers if revisions USO reform goes ahead

4) "My performance" is still not an agreed tool to use

5) SISO-- for overtime to start in November but you still have to sign your docket and be agreed with your manager

6) For the xmas period part-timers up to full-time for the four weeks to guarantee the the full bonus

7) The parcels that Parcelforce took out of Royal Mail looks like they are coming back

8) 5,700 vans and new pdas for Xmas

9) The drug and drink pilots have seen 63 members been pulled up with four sacked, to be extended for another six months and in more units

10) The business took a 49% stake in Collect Plus which will now convert into Royal Mail shops to compete with the post office who now use other delivery couriers

11) New conduct new attendance and new sick pay policies coming very soon date to be confirmed

Thanks for the update Hans. It looks like we are getting absolutely shafted yet again by CWU and RM. What a sorry state this job and our union has become.

That's the last of our worries, trust me non-drivers will be doing double mail 5 days per week.

The only way they will equalize pay will be based on a dial down strategy

Have there actually been any savings in those 18 offices ?
7) The parcels that Parcelforce took out of Royal Mail looks like they are coming back

Not if one of those days is your day off. Or are you assuming a Monday-Friday job with every Saturday off (genuine question).

No, I'm saying everyday your at work you will have double mail. OK I forgot about the potential non-driver saturday thing, so maybe it's only 3 or 4 days with double mail. I'm sure our beloved CWU would never promise us an easy saturday.....then change their minds.

Everyones definition of what an 'easy' Saturday is will be very different.
With no mail going out except 1C letters, I fail to see how a non driving member of staff could have a 'hard' day on a Saturday - I wouldn't get too worried by it.
The only options are, every Saturday off, van assistant paired up with a driver, or make up Door to Doors, which is boring, but not hard.
