Are we posties allowed to work for Amazon on days off/evenings doing the flex parcels?

Seen some jobs 3-4 hours over £120.
Yeah have to pay fuel and slight wear and tear on the car but the odd shift be alright.
The other Amazon drivers can’t believe the rates for delivering down here.

Might be considered a conflict of interest working for a competitor so check what your contract says. They might be concerned about fatigue that affects your main job performance and in the run up to xmas might want you to work your days off which you won't be able to do if you are working elsewhere.

Depends if anyone spots you really, if you take Amazon in a different postcode you'll be okay....

We had a guy who was delivering Tesco orders after he finished, though that's not a competitor no manager seemed bothered that he was knackered from working til 10pm every night

You have to seek RM's approval to work in a second job? Whether the OP does that is up to him depending on how long he's been with RM and how long he intends staying?

As far as fatigue I can't see how any employer can't restrict what you choose to do in your own time, as long as you don't show obvious signs of fatigue when you are at work.

There would definitely seem to be a conflict of interest working for another parcel delivery company but we have people doing food delivery with no problems.

As previously commented I don't see how RM can stop you on a fatigue issue, what next we all have to be in bed by 9pm so we're nice and refreshed for another day of delivery. And as for RM wanting you available to work your rest days like all overtime that's your choice you can't be forced to work overtime.

It depends what your contract of employment says. Some contracts have an exclusivity clause that states no other employment can be undertaken. There is a legal responsibility to monitor working hours so the employer must be told what hours a worker is working.

Exactly this we deliver Amazon parcels in Royal Mail in uniform so I don’t see this issue. RM might have an issue with it but do what you need to.

You must inform Amazon and Royal Mail.

You can't work 6 hours at Amazon and say 8 hours at RM as you will be breaking UK domestic regulations.

10 hours max driving and 11 hours max duty time in any 24 hour period.

The 11 hours duty can include up to a maximum of 90 mins of breaks. (12.5 hours duty time)

This would mean if you started at 6am you could finish at 6.30pm that evening but the following day due to the 13 hour daily rest to be taken you would not be able to start until 7.30am.

And before anyone says this is for tacho vans / lorrys it is not.

Is the money that great ? Depends on the round. A two mile dirt track in your own car won't be fun. . You need business insurance which won't be cheap. Isn't it all the conditions our union are supposed to be fighting against?

From the people app, I'd say regardless of whether you think Amazon are a competitor or not, the short answer is no you can't work for someone else delivering parcels

The introduction of exclusivity is a recent change. It depends what the contract of employment says. The post 2022 contracts I've seen state clearly an exclusive employment contract. Pre 2022 contracts vary but clearly state that any other employment must be notified to the employer.
