Loss of D2D payments
Can anyone shed any light how on earth this was ever voted in?
I know MC colleagues obviously voted for it and the few DO areas of the country that didn't actually have to deliver these contracts at the time (they all do now anyway lol.) But how did this even have a majority vote back in the day? Most delivery posties basically lost earnings after this decision.

Re: Loss of D2D payments
It was packaged in with a pay deal, introduction of shift allowance, plus a lump sum.
It wasn't simply a vote to get rid of it.

Walkers will have a row with sorters, sorters will have a row with walkers.
At the end of the day, walkers outnumbered sorters when it was voted in.
It is what it is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nobody in delivery gets a 'shift allowance' though lol. It just goes to show the impressionable mentality of delivery.
CWU are a failure.

Re: Loss of D2D payments
Collection staff, Mail centre staff, all drivers & night workers benefited from voting yes (these are people who mainly don’t even lift a finger to deliver d2d), but like postman said they dangled an extra carrot for a majority vote.
Hopefully 1 day they remove the payment from everyone & pay the people that actually deliver them accordingly

Re: Loss of D2D payments
The old brain cells are letting me down these days but from memory at the time the RM CEO was surprised that we received payments for D2D's and he was determined to get rid of the payments altogether, it was only because of prolonged negotiations with the union that we eventually had the delivery supplement. I'm sure someone with a better memory than me will confirm
"Never have I known an employee so keen to employ you, then so eager to get rid of you!"

You know what I mean, it's called 'Delivery Supplement'. The allowance we get just now on our pay slip was the equivalent of 2-3 door to doors on a duty 10 odd years ago. You also get that when you are on holiday, and with a lump sum, pay rise, and a fixed amount of a supplement even if you got 0 D2D, it was voted in easily.
Now, if you DON'T get a delivery supplement, I can see why it is annoying.

When it comes to any deals, what any of us in MCs and RDCs think about it is irrelevant. We were probably outnumbered by at least 2:1 back then, probably by at least 6:1 or 7:1 by now. Any deal good or bad will have always been voted in or out by deliveries.

New starts are probably more annoyed by the £12.54ph wage, zero paid breaks and 7 day working contract tbh.Perseus wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 18:13You know what I mean, it's called 'Delivery Supplement'. Easy. A lot of us never got D2D payments. Then we got a weekly payment. Simple.SkiSunday wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 17:44Can anyone shed any light how on earth this was ever voted in?

There wasn't many DOs in the country not delivering households at the time afaik. The Highlands of Scotland and maybe some very rural areas of England and Wales.Rve83ndxd wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 18:41Easy. A lot of us never got D2D payments. Then we got a weekly payment. Each function gets its own supplement. I believe that deliveries get the highest. I think within a few years, 5 tops all the supplements will be gone for everyone.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 18:40Eh....I thought only people that work in delivery offices get the delivery supplement ?

Processing and Collections get about 9 quid a week. Not sure about logistics though.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 18:40Eh....I thought only people that work in delivery offices get the delivery supplement ?
