Poll: How much mail does your household get?
1. How many letters does your household get through your letterbox each day on average?
2. Does your household actually require all/most of those letters - could you remove your name from mailing lists, go digital with bills/bank statements, but don't choose to because you haven't got round to doing so?
It amazes me that in this digital age households still get mail daily and my assumption is that most of this mail is not even wanted, it's just that people don't bother removing their address from mailing lists or going digital.

I don't get mail everyday as my local office is wrecked like most of Royal Mail. Bulk delivery once every week / two weeks is the norm

Re: Poll: How much mail does your household get?
My postie doesn’t have it too bad when it comes to my mail, or rather, lack of.
Anything important (Banking, bills etc are all online and paperless).
The only unwanted mail i get is once a month in the form of a Cotton Traders magazine. i genuinely don’t shop with them so no idea how i ended up on their mailing list. I guess it’s possible i used them once online but cant recall.
Thanks for the reminder though OP, i should play my part and try to unsubscribe / get it stopped.
The amount of customers (especially elderly) on some of my rounds get heaps of mailing magazines every blooming day!. like i’m not even exaggerating. Nothing of importance and the comments of “oh just rubbish today then” and i just want to reply with please unsubscribe from it all and make it stop.
As a guesstimate, i think i would confidently say that 80% of mail i deliver every day is crap.

Re: Poll: How much mail does your household get?
What's your point behind this poll? If you're trying to show that most of the letters we deliver are 'junk' we don't need a poll for that. However, if it wasn't financially viable for firms to send it then they wouldn't, at this time this 'junk' must keep a lot of people in jobs (not just posties). If it wasn't for a lot of this 'junk' then we'd be a lot closer to the Danish delivery model - you'd have your wish for 'job and finish' - permanently but without the 'job' part.norris9 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025, 16:081. The arithmetic mean would be ≤1. The mode would be 0 because DTS causes four or five letters to turn up all at once on Saturday.
I choose not to because f**k them, that's why. The very least I expect from the goddamn bank is a piece of paper telling me what's going on with my money. Everytime they surreptitiously disable paper billing I re-enable it. I expect the same from RM - I am not logging in to their spyware to read a virtual payslip.

Re: Poll: How much mail does your household get?
I live by myself and have actually kept count of how much mail I've had over the last 2 months, just for interest.
On average I've had 1 letter per week, not including 4 I had for another address round the corner(same number, different road).

Maybe you have a light duty but in my Do and many others we have way more than we can deal with, so id happily sacrifice some mail in exchange to be able to handle the growing packets/parcels.JOsid wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025, 18:32What an absolute whopper,so you want people to cancel the mail that you deliver for a jobPatmanposts wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025, 17:47My postie doesn’t have it too bad when it comes to my mail, or rather, lack of.

We get 1-2 letters every 3 weeks or so. I don't know why or how some addresses need to get 4/5 every day!

Re: Poll: How much mail does your household get?
1st class letter took 8 days to arrive.
1st class recorded took 5 days to arrive.
Time sensitive letters regarding investments up to 2 weeks late.
Non time sensitive letters but still important up to 4 weeks late.
Embarrassing shambles.

Re: Poll: How much mail does your household get?
Based on your reply you must be signing up to every mailing list going for junk mail and magazines, sticking to paper bills and bank statements to do your bit to keep the business afloat.qwerty2 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025, 18:37norris9 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025, 16:081. Personally I am not going to do that - it's a waste of paper and ink getting mail you do not need and then throwing it straight in the bin.
but maybe you should start campaigning for posties to do the same as you because 82% of postie households are getting less than 5 letters a week according to this poll.
