Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 23 July. The bulletin takes its usual August break and will be back first week of September.
VOTING NO TO THIS PAY CUT!
Union officials sent this WhatsApp video of Martin Wishy-
Walshy recommending the pay cut deal... Of course he
claims a 4.2% pay increase in year one is "good", when
RPI inflation is 4.4% and rising... He says that linking
year 2 and 3 to the lower CPI rate is also "good"! But we
know "bad" when we hear it and see it!
"REBUILDING RM" PART BY PART!
Anyway, strings are coming, in the form of parts 3, 4, 5
and 6 of this never-ending deal: cuts in USO; attacks on
our Ts&Cs; retaining agency workers; redundancies
without replacement, etc., etc., etc... We are voting NO!
CLEANERS PAY RISE NOW!
And what about us cleaners? We're also waiting for a
real pay rise; it's long overdue. And by now surely our
deal should be synchronised with the rest of the
workforce? The bills can't wait, so we can't wait... We're
ready to do what it takes to get what we need!
NO MONEY FOR OUR PAY?
In the meantime, managers got their hefty bonuses... we
hear that some middle/top managers got £20,000! And
for what, exactly?
SNOOPING?
A bigwig lawyer who sits on EP Group's Board visited us
on the night shift two weeks ago. He rocked up in jeanshorts
and a Tee-shirt, sporting a wig-less, polished
head! And he tried to "fit in", asking questions whose
answers he wasn't interested in. And why would he be?
In fact why did he come at all?
OUT OF PLACE
This "hot-shot lawyer" had to ask the doorkeeper
(standing under the "Welcome to Mount Pleasant Royal
Mail" sign): "Is this the entrance to Royal Mail?" Perhaps
the staff entrance wasn't as fancy as he was expecting.
Yeah, despite the multi-million refurbishment, it looks
shabby and in need of a paint job... Did nobody tell him
that 185 was closed at night?
WRONG WAY!
The on-again-off-again resign in Distribution is now… off
again! It's been "paused" this time, apparently over
further changes to the proposed routes. We know
bosses want to up the number of runs we do per shift.
And in fact, there are already some duties which are 5
runs... and 10-hour shifts! These runs need to be cut, not
to multiply!
COMING OR GOING?
We're still getting plenty of big packets in Processing,
when it's obvious we don't have the equipment... So
what's happened to the policy of sending parcels bigger
than a shoebox to be processed in the fancy parcel
super-hubs? In the meanwhile these heavy parcels can
just pile up, because we're not touching them!
EQUAL Ts&Cs FOR EQUAL WORK!
Apparently management wants to merge RM and
ParcelForce... That could be a good thing - and anyway,
a lot of the time with all these huge parcels coming in we
feel like we're already ParcelForce! Of course we should
all be one workforce. But while ParcelForce was
"outside" the bosses attacked our mates' Ts&Cs, so that
today many drivers are falsely considered to be "self-employed".
Obviously with this merger, there is a big
fight coming...
NO SURPRISE
Ofcom agreed earlier this month with RM bosses that the
USO should be cut (so much for its "independence"): 2nd
class deliveries only on alternate days, and none on
Saturday. They write "these changes are in the best
interests of consumers and businesses, as urgent reform
of the postal service is necessary to give it the best
chance of survival". When in fact it should have read:
"these changes are in the best interests of profiteers".
Plain and simple.
UNTIL THE AVALANCHE?
Ofcom and the bosses know that the USO cuts "piloted"
in DOs since May haven't worked. Extra agency mates
are being brought in to cover duties which can't be
finished within the given time. In other DOs, on "1st
class only" days, when workmates are already covering
double routes, they often also have the delayed 2nd class
to deliver! This undelivered pile of items just gets bigger
and bigger...
LIFT ON STRIKE?
Lift number 4 by the entrance has been out of action for
at least two weeks. And it's a real problem! To go to the
canteen or locker rooms, we need to go to the goods lift
at the back. Why is it taking management so long to get
it fixed? Don't they know that we're adding up the extra
minutes it takes us to get wherever we need to go, and
taking the total as time off?
LAST OF THE MOHICANS
Back in April, it was announced that the last 108 "Crown"
Post Offices would be sold off to franchises, including the
Mount Pleasant office. The still dishonest, crooked Post
Office Ltd of the sub-postmasters scandal, claimed it was
losing £40m a year. But whether they were or not, we're
against the closures and we're against the
redundancies... These last precious public resources
must be saved... and in fact, expanded!
MORE PARTIES PLEASE!
We keep seeing workmates retiring! It's high time to
renew the tradition of holding farewell parties here, to see
them off! Many have spent decades slaving for RM, so
their newly-acquired freedom deserves a fitting
celebration along with the rest of us slaves!

Don't have the equipment, bull. All you need is a york for each selection and sort them like they used to be sorted before the un-powered conveyors were brought in. Pull your finger out!jimallen wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025, 08:25COMING OR GOING?
