Notice period
After over 20 years service it's time to leave.
My final day will be Sat 19th July. As I'm on annual leave from Thursday am I best handing notice in then with the final date clearly listed or best just to do on the 12th?
Many thanks

Re: Notice period
Found out this morning our office lost 8 posties in June ( 1 sacking, 2 long term sick & 5 resignations) with no plans to replace them, any new starters will be afternoon DPR drivers who start & leave daily
Good luck bakersdozen

Re: Notice period
If you want the minimum of fuss hand it in on the Thursday then you are out as soon as you hand it in. We've had a couple do it that way, no collection, no card or fake congratulations from management.bakersdozen wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025, 07:06After over 20 years service it's time to leave.

Re: Notice period
Good luck to you.
I am feeling like anything is better, so I don't think I will be far behind you.
I will send my resignation by recorded delivery to HR.
Sod the management, they are clueless.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Notice period
Out of interest what is the notice period you're supposed to give RM?
And do you do it through your DOM / local management or can you contact HR directly.

Re: Notice period
I belive if your paid weekly then it's just a week, monthly pay is four weeks, but if I find a new job I'll just give two weeks, the jobs I apply for they won't wait four weeks. Don't see much they can do except maybe stop any holiday paymentsCharlesSpooner wrote: ↑07 Jul 2025, 00:29Out of interest what is the notice period you're supposed to give RM?

Re: Notice period
How do people typically give their notice? verbally? a letter? an email? Do you also inform your CWU rep?
Maybe an email to the manager + CWU rep is the best way to do it then it's properly recorded and evidenced. Can't trust a manager with verbal notice.
