It’s not right but it seems to be the way it’s going.

That's not how the conduct agreement works. No one gets anything. If the CWU can't defend it's members don't be surprised if the outcome is a serious one.

This is an AI Chat Bot generated answer to the original question, members are still highly recommended contacting their Branch rather than taking this response as 100% accurate.
Royal Mail has specific policies and procedures in place for handling situations where an employee is deemed at fault in an accident, particularly if it involves a company vehicle or occurs during work hours. While the exact details may vary depending on the nature of the accident and other circumstances, here are some general aspects that might be covered under their policy:

1. **Investigation**: Royal Mail will likely conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident and assess responsibility.

2. **Disciplinary Action**: If the employee is found to be at fault, they may face disciplinary action, which can range from a warning to more severe consequences, including suspension or termination, depending on the severity and nature of the incident.

3. **Training and Retraining**: The employee might be required to undergo additional training or retraining programs to address the cause of the accident and improve their skills.

4. **Reporting and Documentation**: Employees are typically required to report all accidents immediately and provide detailed documentation as part of the incident review process.

5. **Insurance and Liability**: In cases involving vehicles, Royal Mail's insurance may cover certain liabilities, but the employee may also face personal liability if negligence or gross misconduct is involved.

6. **Support and Counselling**: Depending on the situation, Royal Mail may offer support services such as counselling or employee assistance programs to help the employee deal with the aftermath of the incident.

It's always advisable for employees to refer directly to Royal Mail's human resources policies or consult with their line manager for specific guidance and support.

This would be ridiculous if true.

An at fault van accident that you didn't report would make more sense, or an at fault accident where you were speeding, but an at fault accident where you misjudged a 3 point turn and knocked against someone's fence causing minor damage - surely not.

+ Some people drive as part of a van-share and take all that risk and responsibility whereas the passenger doesn't.

RM need to be more specific regarding termination; are we talking hanging, lethal injection, firing squad or the electric chair..? :nervous

This thread makes me think that RM are possibly about to install dashcams in all vans and lorries, maybe in-cab cameras as well
