Vertical frames

Post by Idk »

So now I've been informed they are changing our sorting frames so you prep top to bottom (starting at col1, then on to col2 etc) instead of left to right.

How this helps on a rural I have no idea? :d'oh!

I'd imagine it saves approx 5 seconds prepping the sequenced into a big frame as you wouldn't have to shuffle up a little bit as often but that's about it.

So they will have to change how the mail is sequenced?

And how long is wasted by somebody inputting that data?

It was explained to us that it would help prevent RSI.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No, the mail stays the same it's the frame that changes. They changed our frames to vertical in October, it's harder to throw in, the only advantage is that the parcels for that column can be put above it instead of in loop order.

Don't complain about 6 hour deliveries - We've made sorting easier to make up for it!

It's actually worse, I used to be able to sit down and shuffle across throwing in the bottom 2 rows, and it's harder to throw manual in unless you know the frame with your eyes shut.

I doubt it.If that was the reason you would not be doing IPS the way it is done every day. It is so extra delivery work can be added to frames in columns.

It can be better to track d2ds if duty holder is off,Monday 1st column, tues 2nd,personally I just keep to the actual bag.

Someone must sit in an office on a huge wage thinking of change for change sake to justify their huge wage 😆

I’ve worked both methods. With this it makes it easier for 2 people to prep the frame as you can just toss letters to the other person that aren’t for your section. No need to stumble over each over and reach over to put parcels up. Not sure which I prefer.

Then it should have been introduced alongside sequencing when P&L was rolled out. It was obvious very early on that prepping the sequenced for the top row was quite uncomfortable. Don't these things get flagged up in the pilots?

Two people to prep a frame? We have some people prepping 3 frames each at ours

Last week they brought a load of agency staff into
The office to remodel it. Frames and sorting areas all changed. Been the same for 10 years or so and everyone was comfortable with the layout. First day of the new system, simply no room to move. Sorting taking longer and all sorts of misorts.

By Friday past there, they had changed most of it back. The company is run by simpletons who simply think they know best.
