Confused about hours Im suppose to work..

Post by Aaron »

Well I'm a new start this is my 3rd week and I'm on 30 hour contract

During the week my start time is 6.50 and my finish time is 1.30. [6hrs 40mins a day]

On a saturday my start time is 5.40 and finish time 12.15. [6hrs 55mins]

In total that is 32hrs 15mins, if all my maths is correct. On my pay cheque statement thing I'm only getting paid for 30hours, should I not get 2hrs 15mins overtime? or should I be working less hours? or am I just crap at maths/ being stupid?

Thanks.

the 2hrs 15mins you have over might be meal relief etc, if in doubt phone sheffield on your pay slip or talk to your union rep at work , but ffs dont talk to the screws!! they havent a clue what day it no mind basic maths

Will give them a ring and see what they say.

Yeah I've got my prep sorted.. getting a bit quicker at throwing off each day. Just takes time to learn the frame lol. I'm always the last one left in the building. The weather has been perfect the last few days.. got a nice tan haha.

I'm not part of the union.. I have no idea who the union rep guess I could ask someone???

if your contract is 30 hrs you work 30 hrs including m/r,your duty times may be a hangover from someone with ringfenced hrs ask your rep or other p/t staff around you if your duty takes longer get the 552 out and plaster your name all over it

I will try and find out who the union rep is and ask them.

If it is correct that I've been told the wrong start/finish times and I've been working an extra 2hrs 15mins a week unpaid.. will they pay me for those extra hours if I go tell them?

Stupid question - what is the 552?

As an A/G your union subs are about £1.57. Money well spent if/sorry, when you join. On a 30 hour contract you should be working 30 hours only, that includes your 30 minute meal break. If you don't get time to take your break you should book it as pressure overtme. This has been posted to you by a friendly CWU Rep. ---------Join the union (thru me) the KAWASAKI god has spokenImage

So yesterday I got back at 1.45 which is 15mins overtime, should have claimed 45mins? To include the 30min meal break?

I'm worried about asking the managers to tell me what hours I should be working, as they seem to talk alot of bullshit.

I reckon I will join the union seems very helpful, also like to say how helpful this site is.. you get real true answers, not like what you get from the managers. Has been really helpful.. especially for a new starter.

A 552 is where the overtime is booked in to the Bookroom or officer in said duty.. Where O/T is shown i Hrs/mins and type of O/T. either Pressure. S/A Or pre booked O/T.. You sign your name on 552 and pay no: and amount per day and type, ask bookroom officer on duty.
