Dismissed during probation
Hi all I started working with royal mail 20/04/2022 first day of training was with one work placed coach first week went completely fine. The following week they paired me with another work placed coach who was a complete bully calling me slow saying the members of the public in front of me I was deadwood nocking my confidence every chance he got obviously every postman is going to make mistakes when they first start and not be as fast as someone whos bein in the job for years every tiny little thing I did wrong he was ringing the managers straight away and telling them making me feel so anchois on edge he was boasting to me what he was to pass my probation if he don't think Im cut out I won't get the job that just put so much stress and ansiety with his bullying tactics he was constantly moaning about the time never got to go home early like on his normal walk what I think is ridiculous as his bein paid to train newbies anyway I had a grievance a very close friend had a stroke I missed a day off on the Friday i spoke to the manager on the day was completely understanding saying don't worry these things happen I will see you tomorrow I came on the Saturday and the work placed coach who was training me said were going on his walk becuase he wants to finish early and all I would be doin is observing him that day what I thought was ridiculous again becuase I'm meant to bein trained all he thought about was an early finish not helping me with my training that day finished and I got told to go report to the managers office when I come back on the Tuesday thats what I done and the work placed coach had completely thown me under the bus they called me into there office no union reps present they were adamant I was not suitable for the job saying I was slow I made mistakes posting though the wrong doors etc who doesent make mistakes when they first start and I tried to reason with them for more time and they were not having any of it saying we got to let you go and was escorted out the door by one of the managers as far as I'm aware as long as your not doin complete gross misconduct ie stealing mail or bein violent with customers I find out apsoulutely shocking how they can make judgements if I'm up to the job in less than 2 weeks and I read though alot of forums on here saying I never heard of anyone not get though probation I was basically bullied out the door my the work place coach and dom manager you union have bein involved but at this delivery office I was never introduced to union when I first started when I was called into the office I had apsoulutely no idea they was going to dismiss me I was not offered a rep or another member of staff to go in with me and all the managers are sticking to the same story what I resigned when I never in order for me to resign I would have to put it in writting they told me they had to let me go there lying though there teeth I was in a secure job for 10 years to move to rm took a risk and they just dismissed me just like that anyone have any advice would be helpful I feel it was complete corrupt tactics to get rid of me Even if I was on probation for bein slow and making a few mistakes got treated like a piece of dirt at this delivery office since I lost the job felt very down low in mood when I thought I would have loved this job like bein outdoors getting plenty of exercise and the work place coach just mad it a nightmare with his bullying tactics and there saying the rubbish I resigned if I resigned I wouldent be putting in so much effort with the union for help rm meant do not care how I feel or what I will do financially now after leaving a secure job to join them Its discusting....

Re: Dismissed during probation
Wow, you been there a month and already they dismissed you for being slow and mis-delivering a few letters. Shocking. Don't Royal Mail want any staff?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Dismissed during probation
This is why joining the CWU from day one is a good idea.
I think the only thing you can do is write a letter asking for a second chance. The fact they have dismissed you is not very hopeful though. With staff levels dropping you might get lucky. I would keep the reasons out of it. Good luck.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: Dismissed during probation
Nobody should be finished on performance grounds after one month. Some staff take longer to pick up what they are being taught, it can be overwhelming. The last thing any new entrant needs is an intolerant workplace coach reporting every little issue instead of actually earning their coaching money and helping the person to improve.
As a starting point, I would contact HR at Sheffield and explain your situation. At least this would highlight the incident.

Re: Dismissed during probation
We have a girl @ our office she would admit it herself, she was bad, she contacted Slymon direct ceo.office@royalmail.com after she’d left the job, she now comes in & does a few days when she likes, almost untouchable.

Try and get your old job back. Don't waste your time with RM, they have done you a favour. It's not worth the stress and hassle trying to get back into what is a sh&tshow.

There is some really nasty bullies who work in rm, some so far up the bosses back side they can hardly see, you need to email this to Simon Thompson or if u feel, you, won’t be listened to because u don’t work for rm anymore somebody else, in my opinion he does come across as being fair. let us know how this story moves on with good news hopefully, nobody should be treated like this.

Re: Dismissed during probation
I agree, you said you were in a secure job of 10 years and took a risk to start work with this company. So you got nothing to lose.
You sounded quite emotional in your message because of the way you were treated and thats quite understandable.
But if you do e-mail Simon, you need to be professional. There was a lot in your message with a series of events. Try and keep your message to the point, stick to the facts (such as the fact that you never resigned) and if you need to mention any names of people such as the WPC and the DOM involved then do that. There are unfortunately a lot of ar$elickers in the company but even worse than that is a corrupt manager just hiring and firing. The powers that be above them have no idea what goes on in the shop floor. The DOM could have just said that you walked out...
Also, I would consider mentioning as a reasonable solution to your complaint that even though you had some training that you might be prepared to move to a different office. It just shows that you are trying to work with RM to resolve the issue.

To add to the above, if you email them, please use punctuation, that was a hard read. All the best with it.postslippete wrote: ↑18 May 2022, 20:19But if you do e-mail Simon, you need to be professional. There was a lot in your message with a series of events. Re: Dismissed during probation
I'm not a legal bod
Royal Mail will likely be scrutinising your grievance and covering all their tracks so that they are not liable to unlawful dismissal. That is why you're probably receiving zero payslips.

If they claim you "resigned" then you weren't actually sacked?Postman92 wrote: ↑20 May 2022, 12:29Thank you for all the helpful comments I have already bein to HR put in the grievance about the wpc 2 weeks ago I chased it up last Friday they said there very sorry you havent heard anything yet they will chase it up as a matter of urgency I heard nothing yet so anyway I rang them up today again they said there job is just to take the grievance complaint and pass it on to who's in charge of these cases there very sorry I should receive a call within a few days I find this unacceptable royal mail is meant to have a good reputation and everything I have experienced so far has horrible sacking me after a couple of weeks and Lieing though the teeth I resigned I have savings and looking for another job so I haven't bothered claiming benifits but I also found out if I did wouldent be able to claim for 2-3 months anyway becuase there saying I resigned and I wasent dismissed the benifit system will not pay you out they took none of this into consideration I bein in very dark depressed place since this had happened maybe i was just unlucky at bad delivery office I have friends working at other delivery offices and they said never in a million years would it happen where they work dismissed within 7 working days of bein there it's ridiculous there also still sending me wage slips with 0.00 weekly another kick in the teeth it I'm sacked why I'm a still recieving these wage slips.
