No 2.0 is not necessary there will be a 1st class and Non priority IPS . There will be colour coding to determine what goes out every day and which walks get all the mail on each day.

It can only work if all duties are resourced each day and reserve levels are back to 1 in 7.

There are a number of reasons why walks cannot clear , sometimes it is the level of vacancies within a unit may mean your getting out to late and therefore the outdoor part is unachievable.

If this is the case part timers will be made up to perform the indoor part and any double prepping which the current full timers currently perform.

If the outdoor part cannot be achieved then there will be investment within the operation as we currently seeing in the pilots.

Ofcom will not agreed to full change unless 1st class has achieved 90% first class letters within the pilots.

Firstly thanks for coming on here and giving us your opinion.
I worry when you say there are a number of reasons why walks aren't cleared, the main reason is they are too big. You can blame what you want but the fact remains, they are too big.
Yes the indoor workload doesn't help, but getting us out earlier and extending the amount of time on delivery shouldn't be the solution. We aren't machines and, just like sticking lumps of weights on racehorses, we slow down the longer we are out. We will also be more prone to injury and wear and tear.
All these things need to be looked at sensibly not just enforced adhoc.

The rounds were increased when they took oversize parcels off the duties, there are now nearly double the amount of parcels and they have been given back to the duties which were given an extra hour of post to deliver. But the answer is to make sure no one will double prep? Putting double mail in a fitting is as good as double mail? I suggest some of the CWU officials come and do a week on delivery before agreeing to anything

Based on what Tony Bouch has said we are going to be doing more Mon-Fri weeks, so 5 days in a row more often. Granted, he says we will follow that with a 4 day week which means longer days, but an extra day off.

I understand this is not set in stone, but this seems like the plan based on what he has said....

I can only speak for myself, but doing this job 5 days in a row is exhausting. My muscles tighten up more and the bottom of my feet feel bruised by the end of the week. + if the longer day 4 day weeks means more time on delivery - fatigue is very much going to be an issue.

I do 6 days in a row on a Wallington. It takes its toll after the first couple weeks back after the break. Would prefer a 9 day fought night even with longer days.

As a somewhat newbie, I want to know why they can't spread it out better throughout the week.

I was asking that very question this week: Tuesday was dead so we sandbagged it to make it to our time, Wednesday was hammered so we left stuff in. Happens all the time. There's absolutely no impetus on RM's part to do anything about workload, rather they alter hours to fit (drilling out a round hole to fit a square peg). The ultimate endpoint is zero hours.

Corrupted DTS data nationally Tuesday night so everywhere had to turn the DTS off. Some office somewhere run a batch way too early. Don't know if the same could be caused by a batch being run too late in the morning if the wave 1 runs over

The existing agreement was for the former the new one will be the latter, I doubt any customer is going to say they are happy to have post only delivered on alternative days.

The correct theory is that 3 individuals cover 4 walks Monday to Friday. The CDV pairing will deliver all mail including 1st class, parcels and non priority to two walks.

The singleton van driver will deliver 1st class letters , parcels and tracked to the other 2 walks.

They rotate this pattern Monday to Friday.

On Saturday 2 singleton van routes cover 4 walks delivering 1st class , parcels and tracked.

The above is not applicable to rural duties or Firms only routes who will deliver as normal Monday to Friday. However on a Saturday will only deliver 1st class and parcels which may given rural and firms routes the opportunity to work less Saturdays.

Does this come with a time machine for each OPG, to give them a real shot of completing what is expected?

Treble mail is what’s coming Monday and Tuesday minus a handful of first class that may or may not get cleared by the driver. Inevitably there will be cut offs and the road to recovery will be a slow and painful one.

People need certainty, not possibilities though. Numerous people are asking about it on here and in offices and aren't getting any answers. Tony Bouch mentioned 'non drivers' twice in his interview last week but it was inserted in the middle of a sentence with zero context.
